Davies/Pound R Us Building Work

I went past the old Davies furniture shop next to the Varsity/Calder pub on Blackburn Road were there is some building work going on, all the frontage has been removed and the roof as well.

Anyone know what's going on? I haven't seen anything in the local papers.

It's nice to see a town centre building being renovated to be used as a retail outlet.

Although according to the planning application this is not going to include employing any staff - family run business perhaps?

That may be because the renovations are being done under the Townscape Heritage Intitative (THI), presumably granted aided, to preserve/improve the building but without there (yet) being a new tenant/occupier.
