New internet provider.

Today we received a new B.T. box and hub after cancelling our Sky subscription (much to expensive);
The advice from B.T. "that it would only be a case of connecting a few cables between the Television and the new hub" sounded good to a Luddite like me. I started at 10-30 and finally had the computer and T.V. up and running at around 15-00 hours, Ha Ha, It's good to be a Luddite.

it only took you so long because most men never follow instructions.
Anyway at least you cracked it.... eventually

son...I have yet to meet a man...who when faced with something entirely new to him...says 'Please pass me the instructions'.
They fuss, they fume, they swear but only when they have wasted a few hours and got to the end of their patience, do they say...'let's look at the instructions'.

What instructions ? (an A5 sheet of paper with 6 diagrams on it), with the words 1= Smart Hub, 2=Power Cable and Plug, 3=Broadband Cable,4=Filter,5= Ethernet Cable and the sixth and final one;=Wireless Settings Sticker.
Some Instruction Manual.

anyone remember MFI and there instructions for their flat pack stuff. they didn,t even put diagrams on the 5 lines of instructions. same with car Haynes manuals. if i cannot do a job before reading one i,d never be able to do it. quite unlike old american ones for their cars. problem with them its 3 pages on just changing a light bulb. suppose they did that with there home market in mind.

True. I've seen plenty of dreadful, badly written & nonsensical Instructions. When there is any!

Particularly where English is obviously not a first language & the Writer is evidently unfamiliar with the product. That's from supposedly British Manufacturers.

They'll eventually all be deservedly gone.

Taddy, you can see step by step nstructions online for most things...You Tube has a wide range of tutorials.

From what I can remember when I received my new hub, it was just a case of plug in and away you go...well once you have put the password in(found on the router on a handy removable little plaque.
Failing that get some friendly neighbourhood school child to show you how it is done...they know just about everything about technology..or so it seems.

Believe it or not Marge but this Electronic Luddite actually managed to sort it out with no help from the younger generation but I had to do it before sampling my daily dose of Hobgoblin. :tongueout:tongueout, Sorry about the Smiley, its only me licking the glass to get the last bit drop of froth.
