Re: Gales
At dinner time today an Hyndburn van pulled up outside my house, took off the ladder and went up on my roof because they had noticed the ridge tiles had come off and was in danger of falling above the front door, they also said that i had a few loose slates too. I thanked them and told them i would report it to my landlord who happens to be my sister and not Hyndburn Council, there face was a picture to behold, they assumed i was a council tennant.

Re: Gales
I suppose that days like this come as a gift from heaven to con artists and cowboy builders. I wonder how many old folk will be ripped off?

Re: Gales
had to set off to work at 6.30 this morning walking up through accy centre overheard that the wind had taken the new shutters off the outside market so they couldnt be shut all weekend also a shop up near the argos which recently opened had its shutter hanging out in the middle of the road .Luckily only had 4 hours work to do in it and it didnt seem as bad over baxenden

Re: Gales
I haven't looked at my roof but it was only just repaired last Thursday following previous wind and rain damage so I dread to think what the insurance company will say if I put in another claim! All the damage is rather scary. I saw a fence going for a walk up the road this morning.

Re: Gales
My young son thought it was funny seeing all the plastic bottles from the recycling bags blowing past our house, there must have been over 50 and must admit that even though it was a mess the way they turned a corner all together when the wind changed direction was funny to me.

Re: Gales
I am ashamed to say that I slept like a log last night. I didn't get home from work until 9.30pm and was working again today from 7.30am til 9pm, so I needed the sleep. Driving to work at 6.50am I had to dodge 2 dancing wheelie bins, a fallen pub sign, fallen fencing, several tree branches and broken glass and a big metal fence that had fallen and was partially blocking the entrance to Queens Park. The M65 was horrendous, I was blowing all over the carriageway along with everybody else who was stupid enough to be driving at that time of the morning. I was kind of hoping that QPH would have blown down in the night so that we could all go home, but unfortunately, it was not to be..:D
