People versus the bulldozers
 

High octane action on land bordering Hopwood Street Accrington.Bulldozers clearing land,shrubs brambles,trees,what a to do.The bird`s nesting season is at it`s very peak.
Allegedly planning permission for building has expired and if it hadn`t a full eco survey of the land was to be levied on the would be developers.
A facebook page has been launched and inviting people to picket and protest against this roughshod action and today the police got involved.
Total disregard for anything or anyone,these people have to be stopped.

Do they not have any laws covering breeding grounds & seasons over in UK? I know they used to have something for fishing. Over here the "Nist & Brutzeit" covers birds from 1 Mar - 30 Sept, no cutting down trees, trimming hedges or thinning bushes, hefty fines for offenders.


As to the wildlife in the fields & woodlands they're covered from Mar-Sept too, so folk don't go trampling all over the place & their hounds need to be on a lead when underway, again heavy fines for those who ignore or disregard the rulings,

think the laws over here only protect certain species that are protected. as for wildlife in the breeding season all you seem to get is information on ground nesting birds and small animals breeding where you are asked to put your dog on a lead. anyone ignoring it has no fear of a comeback. when a heron is allowed to be shot and killed with footage of the person who did it given to the police that ended in a no action it seems pointless to waste any energy on animal welfare in this country that is not a nation of animal lovers anymore.

29 people turned out today to protest and the MP is now involved.HBC look like they might have some teeth as well.
