Heatwave or Hype?

Yes, it's supposed to get very hot in the south of England but are the media over stating the temps for clickbait and hype or are the figures being manipulated because they're being recorded on airfields?

I remember the heatwave of 1976 but today in Lancs is was a comfortable 24C (75F), it wasn't too hot and there was a nice breeze. Between now and Tuesday it's supposed to hit 30-33C (86-91.5F)

I think it is Nanny state meddling and Media Hype.

How our population must have been dumbed down over the years. So that they cannot deal with som hot summer days.
Has no one got any common sense these days?
Or is it just that the powers that be want to catastrophes every sodding thing….storms, cold weather, snow, rain.
I haven’t got to this age without knowing how to stay safe in these conditions.
My knowledge was passed on to me by my parents…likewise I have passed on this knowledge to my own family.
I have even posted it on here if anyone wants to read it.

For the first time in as long as I can remember, I am drinking a pint of water in between ever pint of real ale. Which brings me to a recollection of helping Mister Birtwell, (the ice cream man who asked you if wanted Bulls Blood, Aka raspberry juice on your cornet, to bring in his crop of hay in the 1960s. myself and my mate took Albert into the White Lion in Huncoat and drank a pint in a few minutes, Alberts response was, I have come in Here to Quench my thirst, not to bloody well drown it.

I remember Birtwells ice cream….just thinking about it made me slavver…
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a big buttery yellow blob of the stuff in a cornet….dripping with Raspberry vinegar?
Water….only good for watering plants and washing your feet!

Was coming home from daughters house this afternoon …...was passed by a middle aged man(that is a kind description) in vest and shorts….he was panting like a stranded codfish and was as red as a boiled lobster.
Who in their right mind goes jogging in the heat of the day.
His health kick/hobby did not look like it was much fun…in fact it looked hazardous.
He would have been better sat somewhere shade with a long cool drink.
What was it that some famous songwriter said….Mad Dogs and Englishmen…..,

Today walking slowly down town in search of a beer garden, I was passed ( on the pavement) by a lad on a push bike, I had to laugh , no air in tyres making it hard to push, in the lowest gear possible his little legs going 10 to the dozen! AND he was wearing a hoodie with the hood up.
I could have kept up with him if I’d increased my pace but, the thought of a cooling pint in a couple of minutes time would be enough reward.
Long may this sunshine last cheers all.[emoji481]

And another thing Less…. Have you noticed the people walking around town with more flesh on show than you would ever see in Dewhursts butchers…..and some of it is tattooed…..and not with ‘Danish Bacon’ logo.
I think that a lot of these folk have not a mirror in their home…unless of course it is a Daily Mirror.

Forgive them Margaret, they probably look at my skinny non-tattooed body and put it down to self neglect and no imagination!

Of course, there is another way of looking at it…

… a body is a temple and you don’t want to use any temple where you have to wipe your feet on the way out!

Yes…tattoos are not a good look once you get into middle age….and that is in men too.
I cannot think of any picture I would have inked onto my skin.
And what is with the fashion for having your children’s names and dates of birth on the back of your neck?
It isn’t like it is going to help you remember who they are when old timers disease hit you.

I heard it a different way,"Your Body is a temple, don't deface it's walls"
