how is it that staff lose jobs when asylum seekers arrive in hotels? i have just seen annoucement on G.B. news its ruddy disgraceful to me.

Yes it is disgraceful that people lose their jobs because their employer takes on the lucrative contracts to house the illegal immigrants or asylum seekers (or whatever you want to name them) so that they can be replaced by the governments chosen workers.

Yes, Cashie, it is very frustrating when an interesting thread is started and it doesn’t attract any comments, or maybe only a couple, before it disappears. Sometimes it is like banging your head on a brick wall trying to get people to join in.

Sorry that I also hadn’t made comment with regard to the subject matter of your thread but I don’t know much about what’s happening over there. I have however now looked it up and it is certainly very unfair that all the staff are losing their jobs so that the asylum seekers can be accommodated. I suppose they have to be looked after somewhere but who is going to look after those newly unemployed staff. There used to be a saying that charity begins at home - seems like that has flown out the window now…..

….. and I’ll be a bit if a stirrer here and say that maybe there would be more indignant comments made on this thread if it was happening closer to home. Well hate to say it but it could happen.

Yes I agree that this thread would have attracted more interest had the hotel in question been in Oswaldtwistle rather than Llanelli.
But what happens there could easily happen in our neck of the woods…this situation is happening all over the place.
