Just a Heads up
Today I received an e-mail that looked like it was from HMRC.
Requesting me to log in to the HMRC website to see new guidelines. When I checked the sender it was a Stephen Barnes at Talk Talk .net. So clearly not from HMRC. When you see stuff that is supposed to come from the DWP or HMRC, you are tempted to open it….i am not sure how malicious this e-mail is but we never deal with HMRC by e-mail so I am not prepared to take the chance. |
Re: Just a Heads up
Hi Margaret,
Good on you Margaret. You did the right thing. I always check the e-mail address of the sender, and if not sure it goes in the delete box. Cheers |
Re: Just a Heads up
I thought if I had received this maybe others had too.
When you see HMRC you get a bit of a panic on So I felt it right to alert others |

Ideally such emails should be reported to:-

Re: Just a Heads up
I did not know just who to report it to, but now I know…. I will do it.
Thank you for that. |

Its a good idea to keep the Action Fraud URL bookmarked in your browser so that you can quickly and easily check the reporting details as they vary slightly depending on what you need to report. I should have said that before. |
Re: Just a Heads up
Yes, I have book marked it…it is good to know
