Anyone fish locally?
Howdy doody, I'm looking to get back into freshwater fishing.
I'm wondering if anyone knows how good local lodges are? I know of Devine fisheries near Vita, how good is it there on the day ticket lake? Any others? ISTR the one next to Asda is private to the fishing club,. is that a good fishing spot and worth joining the club? Just feeling the waters to see where to go. Unfortunatly the one in Rawtenstall I normally went to is out of action until next year. |
Re: Anyone fish locally?
Unfortunately I don't fish and it seems there aren't enough people on the forum anymore that are active to give you a response.
I know Platts Lodge had a problem with Green Algae a while back and a lot of fish died so not sure if it still a viable fishing spot anymore. It's managed by the Hyndburn and Blackburn Angling Association. |
Re: Anyone fish locally?
I have seen a lot of people fishing on the Leeds-Liverpool canal between The Albion at Clayton le Moors to Rishton

Re: Anyone fish locally?
Ifished at Devine Fisheries last weekend, despite the rainI caught 3x 20lb Perch, they were about 2 foot long.
lolz.. I have since got myself a barrow tocarry all my kit so now I can get further than a few yards away from where I parked my car and will be exploring further afield now. |
Re: Anyone fish locally?
Used to catch lot of smaller Perch in Burnley Road Reservoirs (across from the Cemetery) but now drained.

Re: Anyone fish locally?
Having now fished again I can recognise that I am at heart a canal based float fisherman, to be able to go after the big carp I need a lot of new gear (My seat box is 40+ years old lol).
So my next outing will be one where I float fish and try to learn how to use this pole I have carried for years, I need to setup rigs for it etc. |
Re: Anyone fish locally?
What I'd really like to do is fish where I can use a keep net (banned on most commercial fisheries unless your in a match).
