Local knowledge wanted
 

I know someone here on the Fylde coast who visits The Canine Club but cannot find anyone, including me, who knows why it’s called that.
Was it set up dog fanciers or dentists! :rolleyes:
Anyone out there know the answer?

I was told in the early 50s that it was where dog shows were held. Other than that it might appear in old copies of the Accy Observer advertising dog shows or related matters.

It’s such an odd name that it’s strange there doesn’t seem to be any accepted explanation other than it must have been related to dogs (or at least their owners).

The Canine Club that I remember used to run dog shows on a regular basis during the 1950's they were for registered pure bred dogs of several different breeds. Sort of like the big national dog show "Crufts" but on a smaller scale.
