Isn't it suppose to be unlucky?

The date today is the 22nd of January. It is almost exactly a fortnight after Twelfth Night, the time when christmas decorations are taken down and packed away until the festive season comes round again.

Can anyone suggest a reason then why the Christmas Tree and the Christmas Lights are still up in Accrington town centre? Can it possibly be that the council are so strapped for cash that they cannot afford to take them down?

Well, you know the council needs to be told what to do. They don't have a mind of there own.Someone should inform our good friend Peter.

Aren't they supposed to leave them all up until next Christmas now?

It is supposed to be unlucky, but if you believe in that sort of stuff, the bad luck can be deflected by keeping the offending decorations on view and on shrove Tuesday you can take them down and make a fire with them and cook your pancakes over the said fire........don't know if it would work with lights. But as previous accywebbers have noted HBC can't be anymore unlucky surely having PB is as unlucky as you can get.

the christmas tree has not been removed because the council will not remove rubbish unless it is in a wheelie bin :-)

Obviously someone simply forgot to phone up the refuse collecting department and ask them to come and remove it. They'll probably get around to that next Christmas.
