epson printers anyone

just wondering if any people here have an epson priter and what model number you have

also if you have an epson printer do you use the cheaper compatable inks rather than the high priced epson ink cartridges..?

one more thing..

if you do have an epson printer and it stops working saying parts need servicing it is a scam so please dont take your printer to be repaired if it is out of warranty or dont even throw it away thinking it is busted

also sometimes the same problem is indicated by the red and green light flashing alternativly

it is most likely your printer is not broke but merely a victim to epsons marketing as they desighn their printers to automaticly stop working after so many prints have been done and all that is required is the reprograming of the internal counters

The printers also say your ink is empty when its not

you can reset the ink levels so that you can squeeze a bit more out of them as well

theres a program calles epson ssc service utility that does many wondeful things with your epson printer icluding things like a more powerful head clean and reseting of ink counters etc

http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

as far as i can see with this application you can not damage your printer but if you are not too sure what somthing does feel free to ask before doing it

shops charge £10 upwards for repairs on epson printers when all the are doing is using this app to reset counters

i personaly have an epson r200 and a epson c46 and have extended their life span way beyond epsons say so with this app and i have also never used epson ink except for the ink that came with the printer

its also FREE which is always a bonus

I used to buy ink for next to nothing, but all it did was block the jets. The black is ok, but the colour ones are a nightmare - always missing one of the pink or blue colours.

Went back to Epson ink and haven't had any problems since.

I have a Stylus Photo 830U

the r200 is a photo printer and i notice no differce in quality from the photos printed with the origional ink

Try Eco-print (think that's what it's called) on Little BBurn rd, just after bank st. they refill printer cartridges, any type, any size. Not bad I have an A1 plotter(AutoCAD work), yes it works on that as well. Think its about £4.5 for normal cartridge refill, the ones for the A1 cost £10.Where as the new cartridge is someting like £27.

Thanks for the link Margaret, not a bad price for the HP Designjet400, will remember that link, but the refill is still cheaper, and I know the quality is good, both I and my clients can't tell the difference.I must say thats a mono plot only, never tried the colour.

I never get my cartridges from anywhere else now...... and if you find any problems with a cartridge they will replace or give a refund without a quibble. I use a lot of colour carts and they have a great offer on at the moment two colour carts for just over the price of one HP cartridge and a mono cart FREE......I like the FREE! I can't be assed with refills.

I have an Epson R300, excellent printer, use original ink for doing photo's to be displayed otherwise use compatible's, there is a difference but its not much, you can set a profile to get it right but it takes time. Paper is as important as the inks, theres a lot of crap about! I only use Epson and Printasia paper now

I checked the price for my printer and found http://www.inkjet-cartridges.co.uk/ could do it for half the price of http://www.cartridgepeople.com/, might be worth having a look at Margaret.

I have for 2 years been buying a printer (HP, Lexmark, Canon.) and after being stung for the cartridges (yes tried refills and copys) Just left them in a cupboard..:( And bought a new one...(Anyone need a printer without ink)
Just bought a Epson C46..(£42 on b/burn rd) And the ink is lasting ages :) And the quality of photo prints is AMAZING...AMAZING.... Using the highest setting on Ilford paper ..:) Really impressed...

Have been printing off loads of pics that have spent ages on my computer.... I FEEL FREE :)

Look forward to seeing if the £3 copy refills do the same quality....????

Re: epson printers anyone

Just looked, and yes they do appear cheaper...... but they are out of stock for my model of printer........I got TWO colour cartridges and one Black for £37:95......and the colour cartridges have 19mls as opposed to the usual 17 mls so they last a bit longer. I will certainly bear them in mind when I am next needing carts.

I have an Epson Stylus Color 300 which is a bit old now, but it lasted me for ages with no trouble at all. I bought it for over £100, so it gives you an idea of how long ago I bought it!

It started making crunching noises a few months back, so I thought it might be a good idea to replace it - we got a photo quality one as we have we digital camera now.

For my next photo printer I want one with separate ink tanks. I have an HP with this, and it really saves on ink, as you only need to replace the ink that runs out.

For some reason the magenta runs out quicker than the others (except black, of course)...

Margaret Pilkington 25-01-2005 14:48

Re: epson printers anyone

I have that problem too.....magenta always dies first.
