I don't really take any notice of them but was wondering if it's legal for anyone under 18 to go in. I know some sections of the ones at Blackpool say for over 18s only due to rules about gambling.

The only one I used to occasionally frequent when I was a nipper was the one next to the bingo hall at the top of Oxford street. Its now a Dance-wear shop.

The rules about age are dependant on the jackpot amount. There is a low limit for kids(~£5 i guess), £25 in pubs and higher in clubs.

Re: amusements

When the National Lottery was introduced the churches and the moral right were up in arms about the dangers of gambling and the terrible example that state sponsored gambling was setting for our children. Which, I agree, should be matter of grave concern for all of us.

Isn't it odd that there is not so much as one word from them concerning these slot machine businesses which are aimed primarily at young people. One would expect that if their concern for our children's welfare was genuine they would seize every opportunity to condemn these businesses and spend a large portion of their time picketing them in the hope of persuading them to leave town.

But they do nothing, save have a bit of a happy-clap and a bit of ineffectual handwringing while they wait for the next moral bandwagon to come rolling along, or apply to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for a grant because the church roof needs fixing. I don't know about anyone else, but it seems to me that there is a distinct whiff of hypocrisy mingling with the incense.

the ones in the casinos at blackpool go up to 2000 pound jackpots but the chance of winning has to be low dotn go on them unless they have feature boards and msot of the higher jackpot ones are just 4 reel ones

Apart from playing as a child on the things with ball bearings in them which spun round and round before disappearing down a whole I've never really found any appeal in these things. A very boring way of losing money.
