Re: School Bus Crash
Just found this on the BBC/lancashire news site Tinkerbell:
Motorist dies in school bus crash A man has died and four children have been taken to hospital after a school bus crashed head on with a car. It happened on Haslingden Old Road, Oswaldtwistle, on Thursday afternoon as the children, from Rhyddings High School, were going home. The driver of the Peugeot 106 car died in hospital. The children, who were travelling on a Blackburn Transport Bus, have "very minor injuries", police said. The bus driver was also taken to hospital. Police said he had suffered serious injuries. Some of the schoolchildren were initially treated at a local pub. The road was closed while police investigated the collision |
Re: School Bus Crash
That's awful :( I just hate that junction. As you come up Lottice Lane you haven't a clue if there's anything coming from the left.

Re: School Bus Crash
yes willow i agree with you about that junction, i use it to get to my daughters, & i must admit to being a ditherer there, it does make me very very cautious, as there have been many accidents there, its time they did something.

Re: School Bus Crash
I wondered why the police were stopping people from going around that area.

Re: School Bus Crash
just said this morning 11 kiddies hurt.I thought they were putting traffic lights up there they are supposed to be in pipeline.

Re: School Bus Crash
A simple solution would be to change the road priorities so the the road with right of way is the one where you can actually see the traffic coming, and if the other one had to stop at "give way" signs I'm sure it would be better.
Traffic lights would be even better than that but they don't seem to be making any moves on that front do they? |
Re: School Bus Crash
By what I can understand, the Peugeot driven by a 20 year old lad, actually turned into Lottice lane and collided with the bus which was either waiting or just approaching the Junction.
He died of massive chest injuries which seems strange considering the speed that both he and the bus should have been doing. |
Re: School Bus Crash

Re: School Bus Crash
this is a tragedy and that junction is terrible, it really needs traffic lights and fast, before this happens again
