Brain washing the kids
From todays Evening Telegraph:

Throughout February, Year 8 pupils from local high schools are taking part in the Escape to Safety project, developed by Lancaster-based charity Global Link. The exhibition takes the form of a multi-coloured trailer, divided into seven zones. Each zone marks the various steps someone fleeing their country would have to endure in a bid to secure a new life. Pupils boarding the trailer are given headsets to listen to accounts of genuine asylum seekers. Footage of detained refugees is also played on monitors, and relevant newspaper headlines adorn the trailer's interior. It is part of the citizenship curriculum, which gives pupils an understanding of society's legal and human rights responsibilities, diversity and the need for mutual respect and acceptance The trailer visited Beardwood High School and its pupils said the journey into the unknown was a rewarding one. Adam Creedon, 12, from Mill Hill, Blackburn, said: "As I walked through the zones it felt as if I was actually there. I wouldn't like to go through what they have to." Haider Hussain, 13, from Holland Street, Blackburn, said: "It showed me that not all people are as fortunate as those living in this country. It felt like going on a journey and I would not like to be put in the position they are. "I think there shouldn't be a limit on people coming into this country as I have learned how valuable life is." Nourjahan Booth, 12, from Foxhouse Street, agreed. She said: "I think asylum seekers should be allowed here in any number as we would not like it if we had to go through their experiences." Other schools taking part are Darwen Moorland, Darwen Vale, Witton Park Business and Enterprise College, Our Lady and St John Catholic Arts College, and St Bede's RC High School, along with pupils from Newfield and Crosshills special schools. In March, around ten pupils from each school will take part in a mock Earth Summit. The event, organised by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and the charities Global Education Preston and Global Links Lancaster, will be held at Jan's Conference Centre. International groups. such as Amnesty International, will be invited to take part. Well, I always though kids were sent to school to learn their reading, writing and arithmetic.....instead, their heads are filled with this garbage. I really don't want to waste time commenting further on this, but surely the powers that be within this education authority must realise there are greater priorites than this? It'll be coming to Accy next...... |
Re: Brain washing the kids
Oh there is so much that I could say in response to this but I just daren't get started. It's too big an issue.

Re: Brain washing the kids
I would hate to have to leave my country or else face persecution or death. That is what GENUINE asylum seekers do. What the majority do is to come here for an easier life. Not on.
What no-one seems to notice is that under the RULES for seeking asylum (yes, there are some, but can't remember whether it is the Geneva or the Hague Convention) one of the most important is that the asylum seeker must seek asylum in the FIRST FRIENDLY NATION whose borders he or she crosses. Otherwise the right to asylum is forfeit. So - what happens? They ignore Germany, France, etc, because they have harsh regulations, they put asylum seekers in camps, which is nowhere near as good as being given a Council house and benefits. Unfortunately, if you stood outside a school and handed out leaflets pointing out the cost of asylum seekers (bogus and genuine) to every single person in this country, also the fact that we cannot house and provide health care for our existing population, you would be branded a fascist. Apparently fascism now consists largely of telling it like it is. |
Re: Brain washing the kids
dont wanna be mr unpopular but...
we got our own probelems and cant cope with our own needs while i was in hospital an asylum seeker was in the bed next to me for a checkup on his bowel which i have nothing against what i do have a problem with is that a very nice scottish guy across from me had waited so long to get a bed and a slot for an operation his cancer had spread to his stomach , liver and everywhere else and was basicly nothing could save him it had spread too far sorry if this sounds racist but i am a great believer in taking care of your own before we take care of others it sickens me to see how many people we let into this country because they want an easy ride as for our kids been filled with this rubbish it is disgusting i would rather see my kids get an eductaion or maybe instead of this rubbish let kids have an extra hour a week doing sport so we wont do so bad at it in the future ( rowing and running arnt real sport lol ) if they percist in this rubbish and it gets to my kids schools my children will have my blessing to walk straight out and come home |
Re: Brain washing the kids
Pendy is right in saying that there are rules. Unfortunately these rules are largely ignored both by the asylum seekers and the system. A friend of mine recently did an extra shift at a local GU Clinic (special or clap clinic for those not into abbreviations) She commented that this was predominantly a HIV clinic filled with Eastern European asylum seekers coming for treatment. As discussed in a previous thread it costs a fortune per year to treat a HIV positive patient on the NHS. Our numbers have risen again this year to roughly 54,000 HIV positive people in the UK. I wonder how many of those are asylum seekers.

Re: Brain washing the kids
When it comes to asylum seekers and immigrants I'm very happy when I'm called a racist for airing my views.
|
Re: Brain washing the kids
Can anyone please explain to me just WHY there are so many Eastern European asylum seekers?
Most of the states have broken away from "mother Russia" many have become democratic or are trying to be, Ethnic cleansing hasn't been mentioned on the news for quite some time ....and they are clammering to join the European Community. So exactly who is threatening these people and who is being threatened? |
Re: Brain washing the kids
............and referring back to Pendy's post, why don't they stop in the first country they enter where they are safe? Why do they travel through several countries to get to this one?
I'm not against helping people and I'm not against immigration in general but I do object to people who come here simply because they've learned that it's a free for all. The worst of it is when we end up supporting someone financially and giving them a free house etc and the thanks this country gets is for them to incite others to violence against the hand that feeds them. In contrast I know of someone who came here to work, works hard and is financially self reliant but going through all the right channels to apply for a close family member to be permitted to come here and facing brick walls. It doesn't seem to be an even playing field. |
Re: Brain washing the kids
>>Can anyone please explain to me just WHY there are so many Eastern European asylum seekers?<<
The Government were warned that we would be flooded with economic migrants from Eastern Europe when the EU expansion took place last May. But Both Blair and Straw dismissed those concerns as racist propaganda. |

i dont like what the tories did when they were in power but labour in my opinion is to blame for all this in the first place and now they are back in power they are making it even worse perhaps labour know the only way they can keep in power is to bring new voters into the country..? |
Re: Brain washing the kids
Economic migrants are not the same thing as asylum seekers and it's about time the government learned the difference. We can't just decide we'd fancy living in a richer country and expect it to support us when we got there and yet we are supposed to welcome people here under the same conditions.
Contrast that with the situation when people here were wanting to adopt Romanian orphans and were told (by Romanian authorities as well as those here) that it was much better for them to stay in their own country and for that country as a whole to be assisted. I probably don't explain myself very well but I hope you get the gist of my meaning. There is a limit to the number of people who can live here. It's a small island and sometimes feels like we are bursting at the seems. Pretty soon we'll be the economic migrants. |
Re: Brain washing the kids
Quite right Willow. If the shoe were on the other foot and it was us English who were seeking to become either asylum seekers or economic migrants, I wonder what sort of response or welcome we would get. Well, I don't wonder actually, I know!
>>Nourjahan Booth, (good old fashioned english name that, Nourjahan!)12, from Foxhouse Street, agreed...."I think asylum seekers should be allowed here in any number." << I'll bet she does! Then when they are in the majority it will be easy to alter the state religion, change the country's name to Britain-istan and introduce Sharia Law. What time is the next boat to New Zealand? |
Re: Brain washing the kids
Well you can buy houses with Sharia-style mortgages now, so why not?!
|
Re: Brain washing the kids
What's a Sharia style mortgage?
|
Re: Brain washing the kids
No interest payments.
|
Re: Brain washing the kids
I wouldn't mind one of those ;)
I remember many years ago a muslim lady we had as a customer at the bank was horrified to find interest being paid on her (current) account. She had purposely avoided opening a savings or investment account and in the early days we didn't pay interest on current accounts so when that changed she was mortified. She was in a minority of one amongst our customers. |
Re: Brain washing the kids
Might the asylum seekers be heading for the good old UK because they can milk the benefits system......or is that just me being a cynical old sod again?
|
Re: Brain washing the kids
I think it is time we put a sign up......CLOSED FOR THE FORSEEABLE FUTURE.
|
Re: Brain washing the kids

its labour who started all this off in the first place the last time they were in power
Sorry cock, it was that bloody idiot Edward Heath and his cronnies who fixed it so we joined the common market after that it was just a matter of time, who said Enock was wrong. |
Re: Brain washing the kids
Enoch was waaaaaaaaaay ahead of his time.....!
|
Re: Brain washing the kids
The irony is that Enoch was branded a racist but in actual fact he wasn't. He was simply voicing his fears.
Is it racist to expect equality? Apparently it is in some cases and unfortunately this lends fuel to the fires of people such as the BNP who are quite open about being racist. I would like all people to be treated equally but that simply doesn't seem to be the case. One really simple basic question arises in schools with the holidays. Why can't ALL the children have ALL the holidays? Why do muslim children get extra holidays? If my children stayed home on those days they would be classed as truants. This is not equality so the grumbling amongst the non-muslim children starts at an early age. If it were the other way round it would be classed as racism - so how come it isn't racism the way it is? |

Re: Brain washing the kids
We recently had a vacancy for a job at work and there were 22 polish applicants, 7 from the same address in Accrington. Come on Britcliffe just how many so called asylum seekers have we taken in Hyndburn because it was certainly kept very quiet.

Re: Brain washing the kids
It doesn't bother me how people choose to dress. It would only bother me if they objected to the way I dress or insisted that I should dress their way if I didn't want to.
I don't mind that people speak different languages, but I do feel irritated when everything has to be translated in preference to them learning the native language of this country because we have never done that in the past. Other immigrants have adapted and made the effort to learn English. I do think that if people choose to live here then they should respect the laws of this land and live by them. I don't think that people who incite hatred towards any section of the population should be tolerated let alone supported by the Welfare State, whoever they are. I didn't see that black hatchback and I'm glad I didn't. I like to think that on the whole most people around here live in harmony. If the police saw that then they should have put a stop to it. I do remember a hooha about a petrol station serving "Asians only" but the petrol station which my late husband and I used was run by an Asian gentleman and he let us in to fill up ahead of "strangers" whatever their race because we were regular customers so I suppose everyone had their favourite customers and dealt with them differently. |
Re: Brain washing the kids
dont get me wrong i dont hate asians but i get very annoyed when the few who intentionaly speak another language either to conceal what they say about you or use it to act as though they need help with english in either the welfare system or to hinder police investigations etc
it has never been a coulour thing as far as i am concerened as i have indian , nigerian and chineese friends and a few pakistani infact i get along with almost anyone but when i see the likes of that guy with the hooks for hands and his followers i just think well if you dont like us that much then F off out of my country in every comunity you get bad apples and i know you cant judge a race by a few bad apples but how long do you think a white driver of a car saying KILL BLACKS would have been allowed to drive around or keep a sighn outside his shop saying WHITES ONLY see what i mean by what i put earlier i am only expressing my view yet i sound like a racist , government has classed so many things as racist that it has almost become illigal to speak your mind even if you speak the truth it just seems that you are pretty much untouchable by the law if you are either an imigrant or one of the minority races because as soon as anthing is done the word RACIST is used which in my eyes i see as translating to yes ime guilty but i will make your life hell if i dont get away with it if you dont agree with me that is your choice which is somthing you wouldnt have if the likes of that guy with the hooks for hands was in charge |
Re: Brain washing the kids
Well said Chav!
Most people feel the same and that includes those of a different origin. What a pity the likes of Ifty no longer take part in our discussions. His views are valued and the thoughts of the Asian community are what is missing in these debates. One of the problems is that Asians are very slow to get involved with the community. I have on three occasions gone to my "step-daughter to be's" school to watch an activity that they have obviously worked hard on. The school has a 90%+ Asian attendance and yet I find that only 1 or perhaps 2 Asian parents turn out for their children. Likewise, I joined a local W.M.Club in Willows Lane and despite being in an "Asian" area, all the members were caucasian:confused: I know that Muslims do not drink alcohol (mostly) but it is a social event prevelent in the U.K, and a good selection of soft drinks are on sale! The same applies to the Accy web, We have members from all over the globe that contribute to the site.....but where are the Asian voices?? The point I am trying to make is that the Asian community seem to want to keep themselves isolated rather than trying to intergrate with the British way of life and the P.C. Brigade are telling US that WE are wrong and THEY are right!! |
Re: Brain washing the kids
Years ago I used to work with a chap who was born in the Ukraine. He was taken by the Nazi's at fourteen years of age and put to slave labour for IG Farben in Germany. At the end of the war his own country did not want him to return and offered to execute him as a traitor if he did. So he was offered asylum in this country and came to work in the coal mines in Accrington. On his arrival he was told in no uncertain terms that since he was in Britain he was expected to speak and behave as we do and if he did not like it he was at liberty to leave. He worked hard, joined the Union, married and had a family and you would not now know anything about his origins if it were not for his surname. And, I might add, a nicer person you could not wish to meet. I am sure that many of the post war refugees could repeat a similar story. Indeed as a Catholic I went to school with the children of many refugee households, so I know this to be true.
All of those children were taught in ENGLISH, were expected to communicate in ENGLISH and were not allowed dispensations of any kind to accommodate their ethnic origins. They were treated no differently from any other child and they prospered in exactly the same way as the rest of us. I see no conceivable reason why it should it be any different now? I have no argument with providing a safe haven to people who are fleeing persecution. It is something that we should always be willing to do and marks us out as a civilised society. I do however have the gravest reservations and I object strongly to having the nature of the society into which I was born and grew up being forcibly changed to accomodate the fads, fancies and often barbaric behaviour of people who are merely on the make, people who have no wish to integrate and who do not wish to be British, except when it suits their purposes. The Government should bring an immediate halt to further immigration into this country. It should take steps to identify, locate and deport any person who is here without leave. And it should put in place the legal requirement for all persons of foreign extraction to be proficient in the language within one year of entry. Is that racist? |
Re: Brain washing the kids
has anyone here tried emigrating to australia or america it is nearly impossible to meet their criteria and you are not entitled to a penny if you manage to get in and in american you have to swear an oath of allegance to america before you get anywhere
funny how we can not get in to countries we collonated yet people can come here and bleed us dry so easily |
Re: Brain washing the kids
Yes Chav........you are right about the immigration system in Australia and America.
I frequently go to Oz and a couple of years ago we accidentally overstayed our visa...the travel firm we booked with failed to tell us that a multiple entry visa required you to leave Oz after 3 months and then go back in......we stayed the whole 6 months and were interviewed at the airport by a senior immigration officer and now we cannot get electronic visas for Oz......we have to pay £60 and fill in an 11 page document to request a visa....... this request can be turned down and you don't get your money back. I do think they have the right idea about immigration though......only let in the people who will be financially able to look after themselves and have a skill that is wanted in that country. |

I think a multicultural society is great. We can all learn new experiences and look at the benefits - we've got some great restaurants here thanks to immigrants from different countries bringing their native cuisine with them. (Sorry, I can only think about food at the mo because I'm being denied a chocolate bar.) Diversity is brilliant but since the introduction of Political Correctness the world seems to have gone totally mad. We can't even enjoy our differences for fear of being branded racist. I was just commenting to Busman the other day on the subject of some friends where the husband and wife are of different racial origins and their children are various shades of brown. Someone who doesn't know them, on seeing the children for the first time asked me if it is their father or their mother who is black and I had to actually think about it for a few minutes because I know them both so well that it doesn't register with me what colour they are. Having come here from foreign parts they both have rich differences to share with the rest of us (like some really great recipes :) ) but it just illustrates that if people integrate into society then the racial origins become less significant and they settle into the way of life here like everyone else. |

Re: Brain washing the kids
Oh no wish i hadn't read this thread now...grrrr cos im having to restrain myself. TBH the government care more about being mugs to other countries than their own!! As much as i sympathise with the plight of other countries problems n realsie some do need help.........BUT come on!! why do other countries n the west not help why is it us all the time. Like someone else mentioned we cant look after our own at times the NHS is crippling under the strain, genuine claiments of the benefits system for genuine reasons are pressurised to get to work and severely critised, n yeh those who claim benefits that shouldnt should be bollocked n made to work. Some of our own live rough on the streets n cant access council housing - therefore cant access any income to survive there is a housing crisis thats gonna get worse over the yrs. What about our own child poverty in relation to this country....education under pressure etc etc!!............
Nevermind the thousands of assylum seeing this country in gold unfortunately like everything the genuine get bowled over for the many that abuse this countries system abroad. Likewise could we go to the US or Austrailia or anywhere n claim benefits, free housing, money, cant legally be made to work, vouchers n donations of free stuff for your free house?!?!?............ .... Nope! You have to prove n fund yourself to be allowed to be considered for visa. This country has gone all PC, anything as innocent can be classed as racist/abusive/facist, u only have to look at Robinsons Jam....n say no more lol, but anything said against our own is ok tho racism doesnt seem to officially happen the other way round does it n im sorry the race card is thrown far too much too easily nowadays b4 it gets a point b4 u cant say anything but agree no one has the right to be abusive or hurt anyone for any reason but at what point is that to be defined?!? will it get to a point that u cant have an opinion at all for fear of being offensive in any small way?!?!? |

What happened to "When in Rome..."???
As for Sharia style mortgages, they meet the requirements of those who choose not to do as the Romans do... |
Re: Brain washing the kids
It appears to me -and I will stand corrected if I am wrong. that there is a system of reverse racism......where everything that pertains to the indigent population must be ditched in favour of those new comers.......look at Christmas, how that has been debased, yet the other week there was a great banner in one of the shopping centres not too far from here proclaiming 'Happy Eid'.......now if I should find this greeting offensive do you think anyone would take notice of my offended feelings????? Don't think so somehow!

Re: Brain washing the kids
if i was to go on holiday and marry i would face a very hard time getting my new wife to be allowed to live with me in the uk even if i could support her
however asians send their daughters to pakistan to marry and they have no problem bringing their new husbands and usualy their mother and father who will of course go straight on benifits i know this to be true because i once did some work at a nursing home and talked to a young asian girl who was just about to quit her job and go to pakistan to marry then bring her husband home does anyone else see the channel tunnel as just a more efficient way for europe to get rid of their crap...? |

|
Re: Brain washing the kids
Exactly who is it who decides what is PC? It's called "political" correctness but does it actually originate with politicians? I don't believe it's a party issue. It goes deeper than that.
Your point about the BNP is frightening Tinkerbelle. This is what the PC situation has led people to. You ask how much more harm can they cause? There is a worrying undercurrent in this country at present reminiscent of pre-war Germany and look at how much more harm was caused there. |

Re: Brain washing the kids
Aye Willow i have to agree with u there, i thought it was all about equal ops n all but u dont get white british kids taking hols off for Eid whereas minority do get xmas breaks, one of my colleagues at another school had half her class n staff off school for religious celebrations leaving half a school just over left. They want equal ops then it should be equal as u say willow it seems the country is divided as to its main nationality n robbed of its original beliefs, like xmas n the cheek of not flyin the union jack at world cups as it would insult other nationals. I think if respect has to be a 2 way thing, we cant wipe out our countries identity. U go to other countries u have to respect their countries policies n would u think they would bow down to us - not necessarily so n this causes the racial problem more, i think whatever ppl do in their own homes is fine like native languages but in public i think if u live in the country u should speak its mother tongue in public places or attempt but its excusable not to bother at all which is slightly ignorant plus this causes problems with asian kids within school specially younger ones when the only time english is used is only at school, hampering the suffering education services further n also provoking racial problems. Some are racial out of insecurity of themselves but majority its about the system being over stretched unfair thus not being equal ops...... if all was fair there would be not much to argue about.

Re: Brain washing the kids
Errrrrr.....just a minor technical point. The United Kingdom, per se, does not participate in either the Football or Rugby Union World Cup; that honour goes to the individual home countries, and hence any flag flown should be the national flag, such as the Cross of St George.
I'm quite happy leaving the Union Flag to be flown on formal, state occaisions; as for England, I would make it compulsory for all local and national government institutions - schools, hospitals, town halls - to fly the the English Flag at all times. |

As an immigrant into the USA, (because I married an American lady) I was not allowed to draw any unemployment benefit even though I was unable to work for the first six months because it took that long to obtain my green card (work visa). Your future spouse has to prove that he/she can support you if you decide never to work or can't secure employment. Now after working for, I think it is, two years, should you come out of work through no fault of your own, you can draw unemployment, which is quite generous really. I was laid off after 9/11 and was out of work for six months. Unemployment paid me $1000 per month which I think is pretty good. It is very difficult to get into America to live unless you are marrying an American citizen or you have more that $1M and intend starting a business which will employ Americans, or you have some skill which is in short supply. I think if you are a minister of religion you can get in easier. Having said that, we here have a lot of illegal immigrants and are also plagued with,so called, asylum seekers who really aren't.

Totaly agree, how can anybody justify not being able to fly your flag with pride.Other nationalities are allowed to do it.E.G The owners of the new restaurant down Church Monte Cristo, when Greece won Euro Championship they flew the Greek flag for a good few weeks later. And no doubt we will see a few Chineese flags about with the Chineese new year iminent.

Re: Brain washing the kids
we cant fly our flag but the council flew the pakistani flag above the town hall for months when an asian took over as mayor for a while as the present one retired or somthing it was 7 years ago
granada reports were interviewing people in the street and asked me what i thought and i said it was disgusting i hung around for a while and listened in on other peoples opinions and nearly all of them were the same as mine i went home and had my tea that night and tuned into granada reports ready for a good laugh and what happened...? yes you guessed it they only showed people who thought it was a good idea just goes to show how the media is under control by the pc brigade govenment say there is no problem with the asian comunitys so if that is true why do propperty values plummit when they move into an area and why are the first words uttered upon enetering an estate agents " you got anything decent away from the asians" they move into an area and let their property go so it brings house prices down so that they can buy more at the cheaper price a prime example of this is blackburn road as no matter how many grants the govenment give them for thier properties they manage to ruin them within a few years and get yet another grant for their property leaving poor old pensioners waiting 6 months or more for as little as a new pane of glass in their window the more i type on this subject the more i begin to sound like a member of the BNP or somat lol but it just goes to show by the responses in this thread that we are getting more than fed up with been treated like second clas citizens in our own country downing street has some nice big houses why dont we see any imigrants there if they are so fond of them let them live next to them for a while and see how they like it when number 10 reduces value to £5,000 i wont give names but i know a few people whos parents are asian but when asked they say hell no ime english and are proud of it , its just a pitty all people born in the uk dont consider themselves british etc |
