Interesting this is. Did they have troouble finding th cash to put them back up this year? and have they got it to take them down?, Its not simply a matter of just taking them down, you need insurance, and you need to be qualified and conform to a strict code of practice that even says how many times a minute the revolving yellow light should flash. Think you'd find that the 5 k was found to put towards existing cash, I'd say about 16 k to put them up if it takes 8 to take them down, as its half the time to take them down. Rawtenstall leaves their harness above the main street and just removes the lamps, looks a mess though all summer.

Maybe its time Hyndburn are eco friendly and don't waste the electricity with lights at all. Take them down and leave them down.

Perhaps Peter Britclffe could do something with candles next year, if he's still in charge.
