Hypnosis
Has anyone ever tried HYPNOSIS?? as friend of mine has tried it to give up smoking.....and she can't believe the amount of help it has given her.
She has been a smoker for over fourty years and has tried and failed many times, but says she is so much better at coping with it this time. She also says she has never slept so well in her life before. Has anyone ever tried and did it work?? |
Re: Hypnosis
dont waste your money
goto accy victoria hospital and ask for teh smoking clinic ask them to put you on zyban and after 2 weeks you wont want to smoke again i went from 40 ciggys a day to 0 after 2 weeks on zyban you just wake up one day not wanting or even thinking about them i smoke for over 20 years and gave up hypnosis usualy suggests weak minded ( not my words they were paul mckennas) so if you are a stong willed person forget it |
Re: Hypnosis
Yes I did, for smoking. It worked but only lasted 6 months. Two years later I give up of my own accord and never looked back. I think you have got to be ready to give up in your own mind.

as long as you dont have mental illnes or a history of it in your family you shuld be ok also if youhave high blood pressure or a heart disorder they would moinitor you every few days and check you were ok no real side effects to mention although its hard to explain after the first week you go onto 2 tablets a day and you do feel out of sorts in your mind for a few days but it passes nothing bad you just feel a bit on edge if you will but its worth it not to be smoking again remember people rush to complain about side effects but no one rushes to say good news and side effects are rare and far between thats what i was told anyway after all these tablets block the craving and dependecy in your mind so your bound to get some slight effect there but it dosnt last cancer would be much worse and screw your head up more than zyban ever could |
Re: Hypnosis
I suppose I could give it ago and if I don't like it I can come off them at least I have tried.
Got to be better than doing my health in and my purse |

I tried to give up a long time ago, and failed. Then I tried again around 4 years ago, and succeeded. First time around, I didn't really want to give up. Second time around, I managed it because I didn't want my son to grow up thinking it was OK to smoke because Daddy does. He still remembers that I used to smoke, so I tell him that I stopped because it was bad. I just have problems trying to explain why grandad (my father) smokes. I couldn't believe how easy it was to give up. No patches, gum or anything - just good old-fashioned willpower. |

My dad did exactly the same. He just decided one day that he was stupid to ruin his health and he stopped, threw away the cigs in the cupboard and never touched another. This was a man whose main hobby had been counting his Embassy coupons and picking his "free gifts" from the catalogue. I've never smoked so I've never had the problem but I have seen how hard people struggle to give up and repeatedly fail. Good luck to all of those who are trying. |

Re: Hypnosis
I tried to stop smoking using Zyban, I lasted a month and ended up having a heart attack. While there is no provable link between taking Zyban and the heart attack, it seems strange that though I have continued to smoke and I do not take the prescribed medication my blood pressure and pulse rate are normal and I carry on doing exactly the same things that I was doing before the heart attack and haven't had a bit of trouble from my heart.
If anyone is tempted to try Zyban get as much information and a full medical before you do. |
Re: Hypnosis
Whilst on holiday at Pontin's i watched a hypnotist turn a man that was within our group into a General in the army. This guy was an unlikely person to just go along with anything like that and afterwards he swore blind he hadn't a clue what had happened. It always made me thing there was some truth to this hypnotism!!

Re: Hypnosis
My mate at work tried hypnosis for weight loss and never lost an ounce, just a few quid to pay the hypnotist. :D
The drug Zyban was originally marketed as an anti depressant. It was to be the new prozac. While conducting the clinical trials the researchers found that many of the subjects enrolled onto the trial spontaneously gave up smoking whilst using Zyban for their depressive illness. They found that Zyban wasn't as effective an antidepressant as prozac, so marketed it as an anti smoking drug. I'm full of useless info sometimes....:D |
Re: Hypnosis
I gave up 15 years ago after being told i had a heart problem i found my daughter smashing my pipe with a hammer on the back doorstep in floods of tears that stopped me their and then.
