Corrie's Gone Mad
Any Coronation St. fans here, besides me? So what do you think of the latest story lines?
There's bland Sally Webster being lusted over by her boss and turning into a hooker while gullible Kevin ignores all the signs. Now the irritating Katie (Miss Hairspray 2005) is about to terminate the pregnancy she was so desparate for, because she thinks "Maa'in" is having an affair with the same insipid Sally (though she hasn't actually asked him or Sally), and soon, we hear, she's to do a Lizzy Borden on her 'orrible, never-been-known-to-smile father with a monkey wrench. We have Charlie the control freak making out that everyone Shelley knows is bad, except himself, and there's Gail Platt happily going along with her daughter's affair with a modern day rag and bone man. Not long ago we had Mad Maya blowing up all Dev's shops (how did she get the explosives into every one and set them without anyone knowing?) and of course there was the spectacularly evil Richard Hilman killing everybody in sight. I can just about accept that Les doesn't see through Cilla (face like a bulldog chewing a wasp), and that Ken and Diedre just might get married again. The Steve/Tracy storyline is just barmy and would the younger Baldwin clan really live in a 2 up 2 down in Salford? I've watched Corrie since it first started in 1960. Is it me, or is it getting more like Brookside every day? |
Re: Corrie's Gone Mad
It's going through a bad patch.
Thought it a bit rich Gail accusing Martin of cradle snatching. When she seduced him, he was a paper boy in the Cabin, for Rita. Oh its back on! |
Re: Corrie's Gone Mad
Anti clmax. Thought there was a murder? Hilda Ogden used to look down on Sally because she was a Sneddon, & thought her then lodger Kevin was marrying beneath her.
Oscar for best special efect goes to.......... Janice's wig. Her Mum told me she has to wear it because her hairs in too good a condition for the part of 'Lippy.' She also gave me a 2 year old copy of OK, featuring Vicky's wedding & she looked totally amazing, like 20's vamp Louise Brook. |
Re: Corrie's Gone Mad
Good god it is scraping the barrel now isn't it? I mean young katie get's pregnant (may I add by her own free will) then thinks ''ah sod it, no martin no baby'' how sad is that, lets all give our teenage girls a good message ''get pregnant but if the going gets tough, just have a termination'' easy as that.

Re: Corrie's Gone Mad
I think the murder's scheduled for Friday, Garinda.
Did you clock Maa'in's face when he squared up to Tommy? He only has 2 expressions, the one that goes with "Yer what, Gail, sheesh, eh?" and the "Come on then if yer 'ard enough" one. Can't wait for Tommy to be bumped off. I'd do it myself for a very small fee. |

Or the soaps could be really different and show teenagers how to act responsibly when it comes to sex as it seems that no-one else is doing so. |
Re: Corrie's Gone Mad
l think he died in Emmerdale too! Wheres he going next? Lets all club in and send him to the land of misery in Walford.

Re: Corrie's Gone Mad
A risky move to stop taking her pills & trying to trick him into having a baby. l think she did the right thing tonight. Grow up, learn, & get on with her life. She doesn't want to be tied to Platt the Pratt forever.

Re: Corrie's Gone Mad
Has no one ever noticed that in every soap everyone is an alcoholic thye cant stay out the pub for more than an hour also where do they all get there money from i didnt know working in a knicker factory paid enough to keep you in the pub all week or better still working a few hours in a green grocers

Re: Corrie's Gone Mad
True, but does anyone really watch soaps because they are realistic?
|
Re: Corrie's Gone Mad
I have not watched Coronation Street for years,is Albert Tatlock still Moaning, and how
is Annie Walker,I see her son Brian as moved on he is in A village called Emmerdale now he as changed is name to King, also I see Hilda Ogden as moved to Holme Firth she run a second hand shop now. |
Re: Corrie's Gone Mad
Maxine Peacock is... oh she left to seek stardom, showed her botty,[both front & back one,] in The Blue Room, on the West End stage, was engaged to Darred Day, & has never been heard of since. No one actor, is bigger than Corrie.
For fans, when did you start to watch it? Jealous of West Ender's 1960, mine was about 1968, when l was 3, l enjoyed it better than 'The singing, ringing tree,' which scared me to death. Uncle Albert only remains on Ken's sideboard- his photo not his remains. |
Re: Corrie's Gone Mad
Ooh, don't be jealous of me, Garinda. The way I've worked it out, that makes you the same age as my son! :(
When it first started, we all loved it because it was so "real". People really did live in streets like Corrie and, I swear, I had an auntie who was just like Ena Sharples in her manner. :D I only watched sporadically in the 70s because it went completely daft, but then didn't the whole world, but I came back to it in the 80s. It's not "real" any more. Half the characters living in "The Street" just wouldn't be living in a street like that today but I like the mixture of drama and comedy, which is true to life, and the actors are mostly extremely good. Let's just get the improbable story-lines out of the way. |
Re: Corrie's Gone Mad
Can't be doing with soap operas of any kind. The "actors" are on the whole, wooden and the scriptwriters wouldn't know a decent, credible plot if it bit them on the a***!Would neither know nor care if Walford/Weatherfield/Emmerdale ceased to exist tomorrow!
