I think you have to be careful in how you distinguish between these three very separate groups of society and the sub groups within each of them.

Prostitution, old as humanity itself, even Chimpanzees will prostitute themselves for gifts of food and the like. Some (not the chimps) do it because they enjoy the work and provide a service. I know of service users in who are escorted by their carers to the lady of there choice. Nothing wrong with, it’s recognized and vetted in some areas by social services, strictly of the record, but there is a need to protect users of these service if they themselves are vulnerable. These services are provided in private homes and on premises own by the provided. All above board and the girls are clean, monitored and do declare earnings for tax purposes.

Who benefits? The elderly, The Disabled, Those suffering Mental Health problems, Those with Learning Disabilities and untold other minority groups who are excluded from normal relationships by virtue of misfortune and getting the ****ty end of the stick.

Theirs is a much seedier side to Prostitution mostly those who themselves are feeding a habit or subjected to abuse by pimps usually foreigners, but not exclusively.

I believe in a modern society we should bring these people in from the cold, regulate them, allow for and enforce taxation. Provide medical support and social education and put to work on the edges of industrial developments, (plenty of passing trade) in clean, managed environments.

The law re: prostitution is an ass, it needs legislating.
Lets not forget though, that although most prostitutes are women, men do it too.

All in favour of legalising prostitution. It would make it safer for the girls and the clients, and hopefully would do away with the pimps, except there would probably be a black market (pardon the expression!).
