Who wants to live forever?

I read with interest, that scientist have almost cracked the problem of human ageing.Dr.Aubrey de Grey(very apt name) a geneticist from Cambridge University, has conducted research into stem cells and their use in prolonging the life span of the human race.
He tells us that he would wager someone alive today could still be around for another 900+years!
At the moment they are working on mice which appparently are genetically similar to us.
So the plan is opt for retirement as early as possible then watch the b*****S squirm when they pay us 900 years of pension, not to mention the bus pass!:p

If you lived for 900 years you're probably going to need that lottery win !

Re: Who wants to live forever?

Just a thought but aren't we going to be a bit overcrowded if everyone lives for 900 years? Will there be an embargo on reproduction to make room for us all? And can you just imagine what we'd look like?

If time speeds up as we get older how fast will it seem to be going at 900 years old?

Re: Who wants to live forever?

You would have to have a great life to want to live for ever, just think of all the family squabbles you could have in that time.lol

Re: Who wants to live forever?

Okay, so we live for 900 years. Do we still age? - or are we all wandering round in a state of arrested development - or can I go back to the shape and skin I had at 25 (yes please!).

Mind you, I've always agreed with Woody Allen - I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it by not dying!

Re: Who wants to live forever?

Seriously, no-one wants to die..... but live for 900yrs??

I'd rather believe in re-incarnation... must be more interesting coming back as someone else, having a fresh start??

stanerlee 10-03-2005 18:41

Re: Who wants to live forever?

kitchener you're nearly 900years old anyway. sorry only joking..........

Irene Carr wants to live forever.............

Re: Who wants to live forever?

The only problem with re-incarnation is that you'd never know you'd been re-incarnated.
