Dial a Ride
It looks as if Britcliffe is trying to swing the axe on dial a ride now
http://www.accringtonobserver.co.uk/..._id=12102.html Funny how he managed to find £5000-00 for Christmas lights when no funds were immediately available....This coming Christmas, many of our pensioners will be unable to see the lights because of lack of transport! (thats if they haven't starved to death by then) |
Re: Dial a Ride
its not just old people thet rely on this service many young and old disabled people use this as well and if i am correct i think they take people to hospital appointments as well
will have to look that up.. mind you the council probably have more important things to do theres probably some minority somewhere in acy that needs some trivial thing or another |
Re: Dial a Ride
That is disgusting what is £ 7000 to a local authority it is less than a third of britckliffes expences
|
Re: Dial a Ride
the coucil will pay £16 per hour to remove a dead cat from the road to its employees but wont help pay to transport the disabled
now thats disgusting i have a friend who does call out duty for the council and can be called out at any hour of the night to bag up a dead animal usualy cats that has been spotted in the road and the rate is £16 although the money is good he dosnt appreciate been woken up in the night for the sake of scooping up a dead animal so maybe the council should leave it there until morning when the normal day workers can shif it for less and the money saved go towards paying to help the disabled i guess what ime saying is a dead animal isnt going to go far in a few hours so why wake someone up at 3am and pay £16 and hour to shift it |

Council are saving themselves money by leaving the Christmas decorations up ALL YEAR. They can then use them for the mayor making in the spring, as they aren't specific to Christmas, being plain coloured lights. |
Re: Dial a Ride
APRIL UPDATE:D
Britcliffe and H.B.C. have done a U-Turn regarding their decision to axe the £7,500-00 funding of dial-a-ride! Following a public outcry, Britcliffe says: "Over the last few weeks, I've come to realise what a valuable service to our elderly and disabled residents Dial-A-Ride provides. Therefore, I'm delighted to confirm that the council will continue to fund the service from either the Community Chest Fund or from saving achieved elsewhere in the budget" Anyone would think there is an election looming:p |
Re: Dial a Ride
Expect it to be axed soon after, so that it will be forgotten about by the next election!
|
Re: Dial a Ride
Maybe it would be a good idea to take it out of the resources set aside for the project management of the Panopticon?
Oh dear, didn’t Mr Blair call an election this week. A week in politics eh? One must ask had an election not been called would the have realised anything at all…. |
