Possible Phone Scam

Just thought I would post a quick warning to let you know of a possible phone scam going around. We just received a call from 'BT' talking about different options you can have on your phone.
They then preceeded to ask personal details and wanted to know things such as bank account numbers and sort codes.
Needless to say they didnt get that information as you never give out information like that to anyone over the phone.
So just a heads up in case you get a call.

Thanks for the tip g78:) I'm always telling the people I visit in my job about these scams going round! I've told people best get a shreadder or tear up anything that has their personal info on it,put the chain on the door, make sure you know the person calling is genuine, but it's a shame that I've got to do this, but sharks don't all live in the sea!:(

Received a phone call from BT myself this morning, but b4 they could say a lot i told them i was with NTL then put the phone down. So you never know Jason you could receive one too.

There is a lot of vulnerable people around who will give bank details etc. out. These are the ones these vulters pray on. Got a couple of words for people like this, but if i put them on a thread i'd probably be struck off.

I think most of us are quite wise on what these con artists can pull it's the elderly I feel sorry for, they can be too trusting, especially when the bogus people use reputable companies like BT, British Gas etc.

We are getting four or five calls a night at the moment, mostly the "You've WON!!!" type. But BT and 02, plus tele2 are always pestering for more business. |In my view its this incessant badgering from main line company pushing their greed ahead of the customers needs that gives opportunity to petty criminals.
