In the Daily Mail yesterday Lowri Turner was castigating women over the age of 40 for wearing Jeans.

Should women of a certain age give up wearing jeans?

Do you think jeans should only be worn by young women?

Margaret u should be able to wear whatever u like, nowt wrong with jeans its universal to any age [im not ageist] stuff Lowri what does she know?!? Trouble with this country too many ppl have far too many opinions on how ppl should or shouldnt do n apply it to media pressure to make it out wrong for ppl to wear whatever they like...as long as u is happy with what u wear then stuff anyone else is my answer LOL

:( oh I've got a bee in my bonnet about this one!! My mum is 40+ and still looks cracking in a pair of jeans. Why should women always be dictated too about what they should and should not wear!

I don't think it is always about looking good. It is about being comfortable with who you are........I have got to the stage in my life when I don't have to prove anything to anyone.
Fashion isn't about being comfortable.......ask those stick thin models!

Yep I agree tinks, mum does still look good in a pair of jeans. I am glad there isn't a age limit on wearing jeans cos when I get to 50 years old, if I can't still wear jeans.........I'm not wearing anything so stick that in ya pipe you supposed fasion woman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

In her article there were pictures of women over 40.......they included Felicity Kendall (ex rear of the year) Goldie Hawn, Camilla P-B and others......all with cutting comments on how they looked. Hello......Lowri......have you looked in the mirror recently?

pmsl !!!! its when someone whom has a problem with themselves n wont admit it critises others [ie projecting problem onto someone else] in order to make themselves feel better n not acknowledge the problem is in fact theirs. I:E Lowri has a problem with 40+ women wearing jeans cos she doesn't suit them herself so therefore critize every other woman for wearing them thusfore outlawing jean wearing n therefore doesn't show up Lowri's insecurity :) ....have i got her sussed pmsl!!

As much as l think people should wear what they like, however l'm not too keen on skin tight flesh coloured leggings with a short top. It seems to be very popular in Blackburn still. :(

The only consideration a woman should give when deciding whether or not to wear jeans is to the size of her hips. Perhaps Ms. Turner should have said women over the hip size of 40" shouldn't wear jeans

Ms Turner needs to remove her head from her a*** and rejoin the real world! Jeans are the most practical garment to wear to work in;thats how they were invented! The only criteria should be that you actually have a bottom that fills them and they don't just hang limply round were it should be!

i dont think there should be an age limit on jeans BUT...


i do think there should be a weight limit on those hipster style jeans it just looks horriffic when your walking behind somone with their guts hanging over the low waist of the jeans

i know i dont have to look but you just cant help it, there seems to be a hypnotic ripple as they swing those extra pounds from left to right

if you have to jump of the wardrobe to get in a pair of pants its time to move up a size or get on a diet :eek:

Another thing l hate is some club's door policy that doesn't allow jeans! l can be in my Gieve's and Hawkes blazer, smart shirt, Gucci loafers, and be wearing jeans and be refused entry from some places. lf l turned up at the same club in a pair of crimplene slacks from the market costing a fiver, in l go-daft!

Chav......I must admit that I don't like the low slung jobbies........I can't be giving cold air to my belly button.........I think you have to skinny to wear those. But normal jeans are for everyone........if they feel comfortable.

i agree people should feel free to wear what they want and what ever is most comfortable but the people i was refering to in my earlier post must enjoy walking in severe pain , it is beyond the laws of physics how these people get into their jeans when they are clearly a good few stone to big for them

it wouldnt surprise me if you saw their kneecaps resting on the waist belt because there was no room in the jeans

its realy hard tro explain what i mean without sounding offensive to larger people but someone here must know what i mean by those women that force themselves into hipsters clearly 5 sizes too small for them and have the exess skin and flab hangin out of the sides tucked in their pockets

ime no longer the slim well toned god like creature i was and dress accodingly the musscle t-shirts went out the window long ago and were replaced by looser fitting t-sirts that cover up the damage beer and curry did to me lol

I suppose Levi Strauss would be totally amazed that denim jeans are considered a fashion item nowadays.

They were originally designed to be hard wearing and comfortable, for practical purposes.

Maybe it's us old uns who wear them when working who should be telling the young lasses that they are too young and fashion conscious to wear something as down to earth as denims?

Quite seriously, wear what you like and what you feel comfortable in and what is practical. If I'm in a muddy field I wear jeans. If I'm going out for the evening I wear a skirt, nothing to do with what anyone else thinks and everything to do with what I feel most comfortable in for the occasion.
