Stars Reunite For TV Show
Pull on your leg warmers and don those teeny boppers - a new reality TV show is to hit our screens.
ITV's Hit Me Baby One More Time will feature pop stars from the 70s, 80s and 90s pitting themselves against each other for a second chance of fame. The first show, to be broadcast on Saturday, will feature Gloria Gaynor singing I Will Survive, Howard Jones performing What Is Love, Limahl singing Too Shy, and Tiffany giving a rendition of I Think We're Alone Now. Other favourites from the past include Belinda Carlisle, Doctor and the Medics, T'Pau and Chesney Hawkes. Contestants will have to perform their old hits as well as takes on more modern numbers. The show will see the public voting off contestants each week. The winner will stand a chance of launching a new career in the music business. Host Vernon Kay said: "I'm really looking forward to presenting Hit Me Baby One More Time as it's a great opportunity to find out what the artists who made the tracks of my years have been up to. "They'll be performing modern day classics as well as the hits that made them famous." Here is the list of performers and their most famous songs:

|
Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
I'll be watching with my cans and having a sing song!!
|
Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
The majority seem a little dated to me, the only one of the list that I personally feel was under exploited at the time was Carol Decker. With the right song, she could yet again appeal to the youth of today....time will tell:D

Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show

Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
It begs the question.......Are the phone companies making a rake off from programs like this??????
I thought it was a great load of rubbish.........I certainly won't be watching it next week. OH for some real entertainment on a Saturday night. |
Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
It's just another remake of reborn in the usa,the phone comapnies and itv must make a mint from these programmes.

|
Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
If they make such a mint, why don't they invest it in the production of some decent programs ?
I watch very little TV these days because there is so little decent stuff to be seen. |
Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show

TV has been really bad this week..........and saturday nights will never ever be the same as it was years ago with family entertainment. The best thing on saturday night is ant and dec,i think they are funny.................and match of the day. |
Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
I hope these acts have other jobs......because I don't think they have too much chance of being Reborn in the UK.
|
Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
I am so glad that I have the computer..........at least I can have a look who's on Accyweb......and what the hot topics are.
Football.....gives me the heebies. |
Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
I watch tv while on the comp,in my living room...............and i hardly tend to look at the tv screen its that bad!!
|
Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
Unfortunately I didn't see it but at first glance none of them look very inspiring as a possible come-back.
. |
Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
I am very fortunate.......the computer is upstairs, the TV downstairs.
It does make hubby feel like a cyber widower though! |
Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
The best one for me was Gloria Gaynor singing I Will Survive.
Will watch the results later, but would not waste my money voting for anyone. |
Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
I enjoyed watching the show, thought Howard Jones still sounds great and Tiffany, some dodgy notes with the Honeyz and Limahl (thought he was really full of himslef as well, though I suppose that also could've been nerves) enjoyed it anyway I'll probably keep watching. Looking forward to seeing Carol Decker used to love T'pau!

Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
I didn't realise there is a part 2 later after the results!

Moving off a little bit but similar lines.....Stars in their eyes..............some good acts.......Nell Mcandrew as Kim Wilde was good as was Victoria Bush as Mama Cass.
I cant wait until the shower of pooh they put out next week on hit me baby!! |
Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
The Honeyz were awful, and they were only in the charts 4 years ago. Why don't they let some real old timers have another shot at stardom?
Bring back The Singing Nun! |
Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
What singing nun? I don't remember her. Do you remember when PJ Proby tried to make a come back on Opportunity Knocks and then denied it was him? Who was that masked man? That was absolutely ages ago.

Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
I know the song if it's the same one as one I know. In French, about a bod called Dominique wandering about alone and living a simple life and singing and " En tous chemins en tout summat-or-other Il ne parle que du bon Dieu" Is that the one? I don't recall the nun though.
|
Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
I will e mail the song in a couple of mins....
|
Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
LOL.
l'm glad 'The Singing Nun' has brought you two even closer together. Unfortunatly l've found out l think she died a couple of year's ago. How about Clodagh Rodgers then, she's been gone too long! |

Now you really have lost me. Guess thats one for the over 40's hehe |
Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
The singing nun allegedly committed suicide a number of years ago, and Limahl is probably on there as he has been signing on.
I saw an article a few years ago and he was standing in the dole queue. I wonder whether he managed to pull himself out of that hole. I remember him on Top of the Pops in the 80s, with pink hair and singing Never Ending Story. |

Garinda's celebrity 'heat' corner.
Limahl used to share a house with Paul Gambicini at the height of his fame. His sister Kate used to be a life model [ l've drawn her], before finding fame as HaysiFantasy with Jerermy Healey. Clodagh Rodgers still looks good. Not really the right thread l know, sorry. :) |

What a load of rubbish this show was!!
|
Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
Its not fantastic Slapperdapper, I think its the nostalgia that attracts, watched it tonight, didn't enjoy it as much, the songs took me back a bit but felt some of them looked a bit sad and mutton/lamb came to mind with Jackie Grahams outfits, her voice still ok though, just found out Shaken Stevens won tonight.

Re: Stars Reunite For TV Show
It was tripe last week and double tripe this week........I said I wouldn't watch it again!
