Re: Where would you go?
It has to be a world cruise on board a luxury liner with fabulous food, (that I don't have to cook) and no grillpans to wash. Waking up every few days in a different environment.

Re: Where would you go?
I am amazed that there are not more intrepid adventurers out there.
I would like to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Swim with Dolphins at Monkey Mia........Go Sand toboganning on Moreton Island........I would like to explore Machu Pichu.......I would like to snorkel somewhere on the Red Sea.......I would like to see the Pyramids at sunset. I would choose to fly to all my destinations......in a private plane......or first class........ Maybe one day! |

Doug, you are so right. My parents put off travelling until Mum retired.......Dad only lived six weeks after Mum retired.......so now she goes to the places they would have visited without him......how sad is that? Don't wait......do it now! |

Re: Where would you go?
Two things I always planned on retirement:-
1. Order a Morgan. 2. Go across the Sahara. By the time I got back, the Morgan might be available. I have had No. 2 planned for years. First I will fly out to Tamanrasset, which is the last outpost for planes. Then by Land Rover down to the Air. Then pick up a salt caravan (by camel) across the whole of the Sahara to Bilma in the Sudan. Then probably off to a luxury hotel in Egypt to soothe my aching bum in the Jacuzzi! The whole trip would take a minimum of three months, so it has to be a retirement job. However, thanks to Equitable Life, both 1 and 2 look very far away! The other great one? - I haven't seen him for ages, so don't know if he's still planning it. A friend of mine from Aussie had his schooner down there. He wanted to bring it over to moor in St Katharine's Dock. He needs a crew of 8 minimum for safety. Out of Aussie, acoss the Pacific, up the coast of South America, through the Panama Canal, via the Bahamas, then across the Atlantic to the Canaries, and up from there passing Gib. I only wish I could ...... but under sail it would take a very long time. |

Re: Where would you go?
I want to see Petra in Jordan, Egypt and Iraq would also be on the books of an archaeological tour. But Rome, Greece and Turkey would be first after a tour of our own country……..

Re: Where would you go?
For the five years before I retired in 2002, I saved my pennies and planned a six month trip to Australia. We went in the January of 2003 and visited all the places that you read about.
The great Barrier Reef.......Uluru(AKA Ayers Rock) Alice Springs, Kings Canyon........took the dawn walk around the canyon. Mount Buffalo and the Victorian snow fields......though at the time they were devastated by the bush fires that had raged during the early part of that year. We visited Perth and I met up with friends from 30 years ago. Sydney, but I didn't climb the bridge...for which I am truly sorry......I needed someone to go with and hubby point blank refused. Melbourne for the Grand Prix.......South Australia and the vinyards. It was an absolutely awesome trip.........and worth every penny. We flew everywhere business class and I loved it. At the end of the six months I didn't want to come back.......I wanted to skip off and 'go bush'. Pendy... the best advice I can give you is follow your dream! I have somewonderful memories that will sustain me when my travelling days are done. |
Re: Where would you go?
