Re: English And Proud!
Things like, Beer, ale and a nice bit of pork with all fours turning on a spit over a stony pit of Lancashire coals springs to mind Mr Staggeringman. If you could entice a few distressed maidens I might be tempted to celebrate with you?. I’ll bring my own flag!!!!!!

Re: English And Proud!
Busman - I am hoping for a win for Button, but the way things are going so far, he may have problems finishing a race!
DC is doing better than expected, though. Back to the topic though, I have an England flag, I have beer. If we have nice weather, what better way to celebrate than with a barbecue! |
Re: English And Proud!
I'll be there with you staggers celebrating our patron, but he wasn't an Englishman, he was a Turk.

Seriously, after having spent the last two years in Scotland, we really are a bit of a washout when it comes to celebrating St. Georges day. North of the border, flags are flown, kilts are worn and a good time is had by all. It's like this not just on St. Andrew's day, but also Burn's night, and the two day celebration that is Hogmanay. Perhaps it's because we feel a bit superior to every other nation, and hence don't have a chip on our collective shoulder, that the majority don't feel the need to celebrate our unique national identity? It's a shame. Cue Jerusalem....... |
Re: English And Proud!
Your not a racisit being proud to be English Staggeringman, well be flying the flag over here in Cleveleys,we should also have a "Lancashire and proud of it" day as well!:)

Re: English And Proud!
I'll be in Cape Town on 23rd, along with several ex-pats... I can guarantee that we will all be celebrating St. George whilst having a braaie (BBQ).
The 'locals' will know where we come from!!! |

Re: English And Proud!
I'm with you all the way. I'm English, no Scots, Welsh or Irish blood in me but, even if I had, I'm still English born. I, you, we should celebrate England for at least one day in the year.
All together now, 1 2 3 - There'll always be an England...... :engsmil: |
