highways planning
just got back from accy,on blackburn rd when you approach the traffic lights at willows lane there is a right turn down the side of platts club, which you will all know.you are waiting for the lights to change! when they do 2 or 3 cars want to turn right, you sit in your car and can't move, the lights are now back on red 2 of the cars have turned right, one to go!green again the waiting car turns right at the end,red again but i'm now only 2 cars from lights, you would think in all their wisdom the powers that be would have blocked the street off,(every other one is)this was before lunch god knows how long the poor sods wait in the rush hour,to me this is rank stupidity, must be the daftest set up in accy-unless you know one dafter?

Re: highways planning
Another example of highway wisdom is the traffic lights approaching eastgate from AVH if anything more than about 3 vehicles want to go straight on the road to Eastgate (Netto etc) is blocked even if lights are in your favour.

Re: highways planning

i forget his name but any taxi driver can tell you was he sacked for imcompitence you ask no he was transfered to blackburn i think it was to get him out the way god help blackburn lmao |
Re: highways planning
How on earth does someone without a driving license get a job like that? The world is a very different place for the pedestrian and the driver! I remember when I was younger and used to get my mum to drop me off at friends - cos I'd only every walked there before I used to guide her the wrong way down one-way streets and dead ends! When you walk you just don't take it in the same!

I'm still trying to work out which road you're talking about to the right and if you are coming from, or going into, Accy.

You need to go almost right round so you start by crossing over to the inner lane (easy so far) As you go round, the theory is that your lane gradually moves to the outside....WRONG! Another inner lane suddenly appears which you need to move into but if you remain in the same lane you are forced off onto the B567? unless you are brave enough to swing your vehicle suddenly over to the right with the danger of side swiping another vehicle! Hard to explain, but if you are local, give it a try  |

Re: highways planning
We have often mused over the subject of what is wrong with Hyndburn. Well there you have it, in a nutshell. A member of the planning department charged with road management who does not drive. Add to this an architects department that knows nothing about architecture (From general criticism in the national press) and you have a council structure composed of misfits, in charge of a multimillion pound budget. Is it any wonder that the borough is in the state it is. Is it any wonder that it is £50 million in Debt. One wonders what other glaring defficiencies would be uncovered if we were able to take a good hard look at the CV's of council officers.
