Of course the problem of going to the Stag is that Paul then knows your not on-line which could mean your ackers are vulnerable to attack!

Auberge is lovely for a 'special' meal. Horncliffe Mansion was also very nice when I last went.

How far are you willing to travel? I guess you will be having a pint or three so are probably looking at taxi distance?

How about La Veranda in haslingden? They sometimes have entertainment on as well. Monte Cristo is decent as well. We seem to be well populated with Italians, It would be nice to get a bit more variety.

Think it's called Zbar, it is at the bottom of Warner Street. They do a fantastic tapas menu. Can't vouch for the ale though as i usually drink wine.

Mi thinks the best option is to stick em all in a hat and pick one. As for staying at home and cooking the NHS couldn't cope with the fall out from it, besides the idea is to thrill not kill.

Re: Date help

A lot depends on how far you want to travel, whether you're prepared to drive, and also how much you want to spend. If you want a really special evening, try the Inn at Whitewell - superb food, fantastic wine list, good beer and a beautiful and romantic place. Downside - it's miles away, and it's very pricey.

The Freemason's Arms at Wiswell does great food - really special, with good beer, and not so far to travel - you could get a bus to Whalley, walk up, and get a cab home. You might have to book, but it's nowhere near as expensive as the Inn. Downside - getting across the road from Whalley to Wiswell without being run over!
