Industry Nightclub
Anyone going to the opening of the new night club in Accy this Thursday? My best friend has got us "VIP tickets", just hoping its a good night and not a dive like some other nightclubs we've had in the past. Am still really looking forward to it. Now then, what should I wear ...... :D

It was open last night .... had a little red carpet outside, that was about the classiest thing about it really. Unfortunately the wait for it to open was not really worth it, lots of black, funhouse mirrors, bubbles and water and tight spaces. Much more fun when it was the Christmas shop!

Its 3 floors apparently, but I'll see tomorrow. It's a free ticket, got the day off on Friday to let the hang over pass so I'll give it a go. And yes Accymad, I might try and route something out that's pink :)

Was talking to the landlord of one of Accy's better establishments on Tues after he had been and he said it was pants.Said you could tell where the money had run out! G78 said "tackorama! " The bar is supposedly stainless steel but is so thin it gives if you lean on it...be interesting to see how long this one lasts.Beware of the bottleneck that is the entrance if it does get busy.

Well I had a good night, but that's probably more to do with the fact I always enjoy myself when I haven't had a night out for a while. Went round town and got to Industry about midnight. First thing I noticed was the plush carpet, and how that isn’t gonna stay very plush for very long!
3 floors was a bit of a con! More like 2 and a half. The first floor kinda curved round with 3 or 4 steps to the second floor. It was ok, all looked very new – but its not gonna stay looking very new for very long in Accrington. It looked a lot like the old Voodoo Lounge with all the glass tubes with bubbles. Suppose some people might find this classy, but I wasn’t so sure. Two separate DJ’s playing similar sort of music – one DJ on the second floor the other on the third. Two dance floors, very small but surrounded by wacky mirrors like you’d see in Blackpool to try and make the whole place look bigger. A lot of broken glass on the dance floors – shame they don’t stop people going on with their drinks. There were cocktails, draught lager and bitter, I thought the drinks were reasonably priced. The thing that made me laugh the most was the man in the mens toilet offering hand towels and after shave to the punters!! Now I thought this was a couple of lads winding me up (apparently I’m gullible), but I hear this to be true – there is a bloke in the mens toilets who gives you hand towels, check if you need anything and offers you some aftershave before you leave!! There was nothing like this in the ladies. Gutted haha. The ladies loos were badly laid out though, 5 loos, 2 sinks and 1 hand dryer and the door to the loos opens up on the sinks so if there is a queue to get in you can’t get to the sinks cos the door blocks them. The mens – well, me and my friend were certainly given an eye full on our exploration to the third floor. As you walk up the steps the mens loo is right at the top, but the urinals are opposite the door. As men go in and out of the loo you are faced with men doing their business! To make it worse, the door doesn’t always swing shut. So ladies beware when going up to the third floor! All in all, I had a good night. Thanks to Bisch for the tickets. However, I wont be going back as I have got used to not paying to get in anywhere in Accy. With the Bridge and Attic being open to the early hours there is no point paying to get in somewhere. Entrance is about £4.00. |

pay to get in? that prob wont last long esp for a place that size - somewhere like opium cud get away with it cuz it was much bigger but alas!
there's clubs in manchester kisser where the ladies toilets have a female attendant that helps u with ur make up/hair style etc adn there's ghd straighteners and hair dryers there!!! |

Yes all the clubs in Birmingham have them to, I find it really annoying, I try to get my own soap and they put it in my hand. You'd love broad street kisser, It's a bit scary though, but probably safer than accrington. The streets are packed with people milling around, bet the streets are as packed as your pubs are.

i mean fair enough they keep the toilets clean enough but it is annoyin when htey start handing u tissues and soap when there's a perfectly fine one on the wall and then they're sorta expecting a tip |

I have seen it before but only abroad when I visit my sister - not something I ever expected to happen in good ol' Accy :) And not something I expected in the mens - the ladies maybe, but the mens!!!

Went last night about 1.30 till close. I was actually impressed, bigger than everyone makes out.. loving the leather alcoved seats.. I'd give it 8/10. It was busy for the usual Thursday night, and there was just the right amount of people there, not too crammed or not too quiet in the Industry. Paid £2 to get in and thats about it for my short review =]
Oh yeah.. wasnt right keen on the toilet attendant stood watching me have a p*ss. |

Haha did I hell as like. I washed my hands and he offered my soap and I said 'nah mate your right'. So there was no need for me to tip (the drinks were expensive enough as it is.. never mind the fee to get in).
Unless he wanted paying for watching men pee.. :/ But dont get me wrong.. I always generally tip waiters etc.. bar staff. Usually in the Calder as they are really nice in there.. but come on.. Industry.. there's nothing to tip for really.. |

Glad someone else has replied to this thread. Apparently the owner has kept an eye on it and wasnt kean on my report! I did enjoy the night, and think £2 is certainly worth it. You never know, I might even go after the footy tonight. If they'll let me in :)

You have to be 21 apparently to get in every night except Thursday & Sunday. Which sucks.

crikey is accrington moving with the times - a toilet hand ( no pun !) in the gents...I have been in alot of clubs in the uk and accrington was the only place where there wasnt an old guy offering you aftershaves, sprays etc...good on that place for offering such a service...

I go in on a regular basis, usually for the last hour after i've finished work. Tahir & Mucktar (owners) have spent almost every last penny that they've got on this venture. They have come in for a lot of unfair criticism over the past months. What everyone needs to remember, is that, they are both new to the business, & inevitably, they will make mistakes. How about people trying to back a couple of local businessmen who are trying their best. It amazes me that not long ago everyone was screaming out for a new venue, as soon as 1 does open, certain indiviuals can't wait to slate the place. If you don't like it you can alway's go to Lar-De-Dars, now there's a fun place (not).
By the way, the toilet attendant is no longer there. Don't even get me started on the racial abuse these two guy have to endure every single night. |

I would like to say Accyjay that in my previous post I wasn't slagging off Industry Nightclub. I made a report on my own personal opinion of my night out, which I should add I really enjoyed. Industry is a good night out for those who are into nightclubs. It is certainly better than Lar De Dars.
Silvermain has his own opinion of sticking to the Bees Knees, which I disagree with. Bees Knees is a bar with a late licence, I always like a good dance when I go out! A good dance which I enjoyed up in Industry, which I also enjoy in the Bridge (sometimes). I haven't been back to Industry since my post, not because I didnt enjoy it - I just haven't been out much recently (must be my old age), however a girls night out is planned for tomorrow night and I probably will go up as I believe it is free before 11? I think any local businesses need support, and good on the two gents who have made a go with Industry. A shame the toilet guys have gone, was gonna try and sneak a peek ;) People will always have their own opinions good and bad - I haven't heard many negative remarks about this place, in fact my friends who do go always say what a good night they've had. I think negativity gets more publicity than good which is a real shame. |

Glad they lost the attendant, I personally feel uncomfortable with it and feel obliged to tip, when I shouldn't feel obliged to tip anyone.
This place sounds a lot like our new pub here, punch taverns just spent 250 thousand refitting it after two idiots ripped out the fittings to what was a good american theme bar. |

I have read this thread from the beginnin and i have also been in Industry several times, it lacks a `WOW` factor that a new site should have but its accrington and well...that says it all =)
If u dont go out often its worth a visit as are all the other bars apart from 1 AccyJay "you can alway's go to Lar-De-Dars, now there's a fun place (not). " id have to agree on that. |

If accyweb were to arrange a meet in Accrington then I'd be more up for it, as all the meets you seem to have are in Ossy. I've never really been out round Ossy, and living in Accy I'd much rather have a few beers with you all in Accrington - after all it is 'Accy'web.
We could end up in town and as Madhatter says maybe even up Industry and show our support! |

I went into industry at the weekend, & noticed that the place is really going downhill fast. There where holes in the wall in the gents toilets (pictures below) & a friend told me that one of the doors in the ladies was hanging off it's hinges. The holes had been repaired by putting a poster over them.

I think that the damage at such a recently opened business, reflects badly on the clientele that Accy attracts rather than on the owners.

Finally got to go in this place the other night and all i have to say is...
OMG HOW TINY IS IT?! its tichy!!! the moment i walked in i was like uhhh there better b more to this... walked up the stairs and the dance music room was too dark and too small and hten up stairs was small again but wayyyyyyy empty! its a nicely done up place but needs to fill up more big time. seen a few under 18's there too so much for a mature crowd! but full marks for the decor - loved it - wudnt look too much outta place on deansgate, manchester |

I actually thought it was bigger than expected becasue from the outside it looks even smaller. It's good how it curves round and I believe uses up warehouse space to make it bigger. The biggest con is 3 floors!!! Saying that, its a good place and I had a good night there. Was in town last Saturday and they had people in the streets giving out free tickets to get in. I hope the place is doing well. Anyone know of if/when Opium is opening?

Nightclub targeted by vandals EXCLUSIVE A NIGHTCLUB owner has threatened to pull out of Accrington for good after thieves and vandals caused £200,000 worth of damage to the building. Mick Cookson said he feels "demoralised and dejected" after thugs repeatedly targeted Opium on Willow Street. AdvertisementMr Cookson, 45, was forced to close the club in December 2004 after it was hit by fire. He is still awaiting the outcome of an insurance claim but in the meantime he has been left thousands of pounds out of pocket. The roof tiles were stolen by an organised gang who cordoned off the site and put up signs claiming they were workmen. In the process, they completely wrecked the roof which has resulted in all three floors of the club being flooded after recent heavy downpours. Mr Cookson said: "If anyone saw the inside of it now they wouldn’t believe it, this is just mindless vandalism. "If I had any thoughts of coming back into Accrington and re-opening, I have now lost interest because the vandals have caused so much damage. "We were not allowed to move any equipment out by the insurance company and last week two men were seen wheeling away two speakers in shopping trolleys. "We had the best sound system in the area, worth about £1M, and people have just come in and wrecked it. It’s not even like they have a reason to do this. They have ripped cabinets off the walls and thrown paper everywhere. These things are of no value to them." Mr Cookson, who has been involved in the nightclub industry for 25 years, said that he has resorted to having a 24-hour security guard on site to prevent any further damage. He added that unless he received great support from the public he might never re-open the club. He said: "It was a very popular club at the time but a relatively small fire has turned into a nightmare. I’ve had enough, this is making me ill. "I came to Accrington to give the town something different which I achieved. I do want to come back but this is the last straw. I need support and unless I get the help I need, I will not re-open Opium. "I am very passionate about my business and I have spent about £2M on this club. I don’t even know how to describe these people – it’s unbelievable." A police spokesman confirmed that there had been a number of reported incidents at the building. opium was such a wicked club though and hte voodoo too it was prob the first club/bar in accy i liked goin to now there's eff all and this shuttin down is one of hte main reasons accy nite life has gone downhill |

It must be so demoralising for someone tryng to make a go of something and then to have vandals add insult to injury after the fire. How anyone could have the barefaced never to put signs up like that and just walk away with stuff is unbelievable. I hope they do get caught.
