Re: Monte Cristo - The Review
re. above review , Had to smile, funny how times change , a few years back it would have been about King Edwards, Ormskirks or New Jersey potatoes, now it's about Arborio v Basmati ......and on Henry St. in Church (of all places)
Not knocking Church ( Tealeaf ;) ) but can remember the days when the only rice you were lucky get in Church was during Sunday a afternoon tea, meeting the new girlfriends family for the first time was a tin of Ambrosia :D I'll reserve my judgement on the review , sounds a tad to much profesional on first reading, especially for a 1st. post  |

Re: Monte Cristo - The Review
I last went to Francos in the summer last year.
I was served a piece of salmon which was very 'off/high'. It was inedible - I left it and went to the desk, complained, and was charged only for the spring water I had also ordered. So I then went to Quattros and had their salmon dish - perfection - and cheaper! |

Nope, no ulterior motive. 'Well written'? Thanks, I wrote it very late last night after a very disappointing visit to Monte Cristos. I have been asking people about it today and seem to be in a minority in my negative experience, perhaps it was a blip? However, I am still totally gobsmacked about them trying to convince people that it is perfectly normal to use Indian rice in an Italian dish. Perhaps it should remarket itself as 'fusion' rather than Italian. Next time I order a naan bread from a curry house, should I expect a pizza?

Quattro's???
I went there a few weeks back, granted we were large party of 30 but the service was shocking, they ran out of draught lager and cider (despite having been forewarned when the event was booked some 3 weeks before hand) , not enough staff on and even though over 24 of the party had pre-ordered their meals they cocked the orders up and it took an age for everyone to get served, 2 diners were waiting for over 25 mins after everyone else had been served. No apology forthcoming from the head waitress ,even though the chef kept looking out obviously concerned that the same waitress kept bringing out the wrong plates of food , how many times before it's obvious you have 2 diners with no plates and you have 2 plates that aren't what they ordered? Also 1 of the 2 female toilets wss blocked and there was no toilet roll in either cubicle, I did mention this to the 1 member of staff who I could catch the attention of but since he was running the bar single handedly he couldn't and didn't do anything about it. Having said all that my food was very nice, good sized portions ( I had chicken livers starter (not enough chilli though!) and then a seafood pizza), and I enjoyed it , I would go again but only in a smaller group, say 2 ! |
