Yes. One of Lettie's work collegues has bought the Cobbled Corner Cafe, at Chipping, in the Ribble Valley. She does outside catering and the food is excellent.
I had the pleasure to gatecrash a private party of Royal Blackburn Hospital's Delivery Suite a couple of weeks ago, purely in the capacity of culinary crash test dummy. I was suitably replete when I waddled out of the door, four hours later.

The buffet at the Sparks event (that you took pics for a few months ago, Kipax) was Yummies in Oswaldtwistle - they're always good value.

Gourmet catering are probably one of the best but they're also quite pricey - depends what your budget is.

For my husbands 50th in June we used Nutty Butty Shop, Union Road Osw. Can highly recommend them and the prices was very reasonable too. Buffet was good, food very fresh and plenty of variety. What i liked best was that they didn't set the buffet up before the party, they actually came a short time before it was served and set it up then. Sorry haven't got the shop number only the mobile no, which is: 07768760619

The Observatory in Blackburn (near Queens Park) did our wedding but I can't remember if it was any good. Some of the AccyWebber guests might remember. It was all a bit hectic to me with hilarious photography and a guest who didn't come due to balloon phobia.

I can vouch for the Nutty Butty Shop, in Ossy, as can Wingy and everyone on site who work at Emersons. We get our lunchtime butties from this establishment. Top banana!

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread but does anyone know how much notice caterers need. I need one in 5 weeks, do I need to start buying plenty of bread and butter and enrollling volunteers ? :)

I picked the menus up from Hearns just before I moved, now I can't remember where I put them :)

TJ Hurn on Nuttall Street; used 'em the other week for a funeral buffet . Very good quality and reasonably priced.

Re: Any caterers oin the house?

Am I right in thinking that you don't order one buffet per head for the expected attendance. What's the rule of thumb on these things ?

spud 05-08-2007 17:02

Re: Any caterers oin the house?

It's based on how many i.e. I went to a place for our christning recently and they insisted on supplying the buffet, starting price £3.95 per head going upto £7.95 per head.

"I'll let you know" was my reply.

I ended up doing the catering myself.

YUMMIES at West End used to do a really good buffet and reasonably priced, but I am talking a couple of years ago, the phone number is 01254 230008. Maybe worth giving them a ring see if they still do them.

Don't bother catering, it'll save you a fortune !

Re: Any caterers oin the house?

When we used to work in the pub game, we used to advise on catering for 75-80% of the numbers you are inviting. As not everyone likes to eat when they are out drinking and a lot of food tends to get wasted.

I can highly recommend T & J Hurns on Nuttall Street, they made our wedding and christening cake. They aren't expensive either and have a decent choice of menus. The company I work for also use them to cater for business lunches.

At work we also use Daly's on Burnley Road, they aren't too bad either. If you need their number let me know and I'll get if from work for you.
