Mine was a business lunch midweek. Couple of others in , not many.

Well when I say business lunch. perhaps gives the wrong impression.. Not a business man me :)  But someone wanted a favour and took me to lunch to discuss it and basically butter me up... it worked so the food cant have been that bad..:)

Re: pub food

Boddington..Yuk.. Used to call boddies pubs..The pubs with no windows... Fighting ale... An aquired taste as well..

Theres a reason why boddies is cheap..

ANNE 21-08-2003 17:53

Re: pub food

Your right there Harry deffo fighting ale. Only drank bitter once when i was in my 20s. puked all night.
Never touched the stuff since. The taste not nice either.
Mind you dont like lager much these days. I`m a biccardi and coke girl mi self.

adi 22-08-2003 10:34

Re: pub food

i tend to stick to a pint of lager.

however on a recent Stag Do to Blackpool i was introduced to a Pint of Caffery's and i must admit that its good.
:)

Re: pub food

Went to the Crown pub today for lunch..

On the front of the menu it says somehting like...Sorry we don't serve fast food. But to make up for it we serve fresh food as fast as we can.

I had lasagne and had to wait quite a while.. didnt time it ..... The food arrived piping hot, freshly cooked and a good feed it was too.

While in Aldershot for the Accy game we had lunch at a posh pub and the roast beef, yorkshire pud, spuds, roasties and the like was ready in 5 minutes.. this was at 12am and we where the first ...

I prefer a wait for cooked on the spot meals than somehting mysterusly done in a couple of minutes

So I was impressd with the crown grub :)

Re: pub food

Best pub food is a packet of cheese & onion. Thats it. Let pubs be pubs and cafes be cafes and never the twain shall be meet. There's nowt worse than sitting down contemplating the meaning of life over e nice pint when some silly sod plonks himself down with a plate of pie & peas. It takes the head right off your pint, it does.

Emma 22-09-2003 14:30

Re: pub food

Whittakers Arms has always been good when i've been although other family members have had problems there. Best Pub meal i've had was at the Hapton Inn. Warners Arms is supposed to be good but never been myself.

malibu 22-09-2003 14:34

Re: pub food

I forgot about that little haunt yes the Hapton Inn very good. Food is stuff you would not do at home so a real treat and nice too.  :)

Warners used to be good/cheap for steak last couple of times had problems.

Warners chilli burgers are good they put reall chilli on a normal burger but last couple of times they havent had them on. :'(

Tealeaf 22-09-2003 15:52

Re: pub food

I don't think I've ever been to the Hapton Inn. Whats the beer there? Is it a tied house?

malibu 22-09-2003 16:15

Just come back from the Calf's Head Worston, Nr. Clitheroe. Went for the Sunday Carvery, had a lovely meal. Highly recommend it, but i think you need to book before hand.

pinkrach 14-04-2004 12:21

Re: pub food

Sunday carvery at the Whittikers is a must two courses for 8.95 but do book as it can get busy, also quite a weekly regular at Hapton Inn good home cooked food we a nice pint of Stella doesnt go amiss.

Save the best till last try the Windmill on Preston Old Rd, you wanna see the size of the plates a whole 17" and very well priced.

Tealeaf 14-04-2004 12:44
