Fund Raising Do

I am the President of Church Town Football Club.

We are planning to hold a fund-raising Do in November to boost Clubs Funds.

Our last 'Do' was a 70's & 80's Theme.

We are struggling to come up with a theme for our next fund-raising Do and I was wondering if anyone had an ideas?
???

Re: Fund Raising Do

Night do or daytime?

For everyone or just adults?

Where do you hold your events by the way?

Quiz nights always go down well. When people know its a fund raiser, they aren't usually bothered about a fancy prize. Most folk just like the kudos of winning!

How about a talent contest? Doesn't have to be singing, could be anything! People like to show off!

Done this a couple of times to raise funds for the Boys' Brigade. My boys won last time with a comedy sketch.

What about a Stars in Their Eyes theme?  Not to be taken too seriously - could be a laugh. eg you as Kylie!

Where do you play by the way?

Re: Fund Raising Do

it will be a night Do and we tend to stick to adults only.

our last fund-raising 'Do' was held at King Street WMC and was a really enjoyable night - although we will be looking for another venue after receiving their 'price' last night.

it was suggested that we have a 'Spanish' Theme but a couple of the Committee Members werent that keen on the idea.

at the moment we play on Council owned pitches but we are looking to find our 'own pitch' for the future.
;D

as for the Fund-Raising Do - it is open to anybody, we normally charged £3 for a ticket but that includes either a buffet or supper (whichever one we are doing).

our last Do raising us over £600 after cost which enabled us to set up our Saturday Team for the forthcoming season.

we managed to sell nearly 300 tickets.

ps: we did you find my picture?

the football team my hubby's involved in has fundraising doo ever year, this year it was the full monty....done in drag!!!!! what a riot, we didn't stop laughing all night we sold tickets for $10 which included a buffet, just sarnies and salad, easy to do then 2 guys did the blues brothers, then they did the monty down to just g-string's but bought from a sex shop so where different novolties. it was a brill night! they also had a 50/50 draw which boosted the funds!

Sara 29-08-2003 19:51

adi 30-08-2003 08:42

Re: Fund Raising Do

Cheeky!!

But if we where to generate so much interest it looks like it will happen.

Dont know whether to laugh or cry......................

tracey 30-08-2003 09:11

Re: Fund Raising Do

you know you want to, so when you going to break the news to the lads  :)

accringtonrl 30-08-2003 09:15

Re: Fund Raising Do

A good idea to raise funds is to get a book of raffle tickets from 1 to 500. To enter you draw a ticket out of a bag, if you draw number 1 you pay 1p, if you draw number 250 you pay £2.50, if you draw number 500 you pay £5.00. The number you draw is the number you have for the raffle. When all the tickets are gone you will have nearly £1200, you then draw from the stubs the winning number. We had either £300 first prize or a £300 tv, this way its a decent prize and you get £900 profit, simple but it works!

adi 30-08-2003 09:16

Re: Fund Raising Do

well we have a game tomorrow morning so i'll break the news to them then.

just hope thats the only 'breaking' that takes place tomorrow.

in fact i'd better get changed in the car cos i can see them nicking my clothes when i go for a shower...........

tracey 30-08-2003 09:22

As for the game tomorrow we are playing the Dog Inn from Whalley.

The games is at Higham's Playing Fields (Next to Accrington Cricket Club) with the kick-off at 10.30am.

adi 30-08-2003 09:36

Re: Fund Raising Do

Re: Fund Raising Do

littlemo 30-08-2003 12:22

Re: Fund Raising Do

Let me put this into a bit of perspective for you, it's what we call the old farts league, none of them where under 40! so no spring chickens if you know what I mean although one guy's g-string was a chicken!!!!!

adi 30-08-2003 12:45

Re: Fund Raising Do

over 40's League?

i bet that was a right scene - still as long as everyone enjoyed it!!

littlemo 30-08-2003 16:24

Re: Fund Raising Do

it was a riot! one guy actually dieted for about 6 month's before and lost about 40lbs!

adi 01-09-2003 10:09

Re: Fund Raising Do

40lbs?

he certainly made an effort then.

we have a committee meeting next week so we will have to decide what we are doing.

i'll keep you all posted.

:)

tracey 03-09-2003 08:42

Re: Fund Raising Do

have you decided what you doing yet for the fun night looking forward to that got a quite a few female friends to come to the do let us know

adi 03-09-2003 09:46

Re: Fund Raising Do

cheers tracey - the more the merrier!!!

im speaking to our 'Events Co-ordinator' tomorrow, he has managed to draw up a few plans.

he's even told me that he might have a live band to do a set - though dont quote me on that.

one thing we are struggling for though is a venue at the moment - but im off work friday so i'll probably be able to sort something.

tracey 03-09-2003 11:11

Re: Fund Raising Do

what about king street pub they have a large room dont know what they charge

adi 03-09-2003 13:09

Re: Fund Raising Do

we used King Street for our last Themed Do but unfortunately when we asked for a quote this time the prices have increased astronomically.

they wanted a £100 Deposit and you had to have their food at which they where charging £3 per head for a pie and peas supper.
:(

tracey 03-09-2003 13:12

Re: Fund Raising Do

will let you know if i can think of anywhere else what about pop club?

adi 03-09-2003 13:16

Re: Fund Raising Do

cheers tracey.

we are going to enquire about Pop Club - we were thinking of Enfield but we think it may be a bit too small.

:o

tracey 03-09-2003 13:20

Re: Fund Raising Do

when do you plan to have this do then?

adi 03-09-2003 13:22

Re: Fund Raising Do

the plan is (fingers crossed) to have the Do between the middle and end of November.

which doesnt really give us much time to organise ticket printing etc.

tracey 03-09-2003 13:26

Re: Fund Raising Do

i'm sure you will cope a man with your talent  ;D

adi 03-09-2003 13:31

Re: Fund Raising Do

cheers tracey.

i wish i had your confidence - though once we find a venue everything else should take care of itself.

then its getting the people through the doors!!

Re: Fund Raising Do

Watched the Full Monty again last night. Maybe Adi's seen it and changed his mind  ;D

Could always do a Half Monty ;D

adi 08-09-2003 10:43

Re: Fund Raising Do

Half Monty does seem more appealing than the Full Monty for some reason!!

;D

adi 08-09-2003 11:00
