Re: meet ups

I really don't know what Sparth Manor is like now Mez, but the room to the left is just about the correct size for us .. would go and look, but can't go in on my own. Could be a change to come down Clayton (nothing to do with me living about 50 yards away, of course  )

Don't know whether they serve 'real' ale .. not being a beer drinker, haven't a clue what ya' talkin' about anyway.

You might regret posting that. You could be inundated with offers from unsuitable members offering 'company', by pm.

(Please reply to mine first though.:D)

Pardon the Interuption. I didn't want to start a new thread just for this:

What day are the meets; Friday or Saturday? Looks like I may actually make the April meet, was just curious what that meet date would be.

Thanks for guidance!

Thanks Mez! Rindy had mention Easter may cause a change in the April meet date? Any chance of that happening?

If I can't get a flight in April then the May meet may have to do. Are you able to crystal ball that far in advance? Just figure on tha last Saturday in May?

Willow, looks like it'll just be me. Was talking with Cindy last night about it. Feeling kinda weird going off on my own to meet folks for the first time. She replied "but you have so many friends over there (meaning through Accyweb)!"

Still kinda strange. Hope you're not gonna plan a big parade on my behalf!:D :D :D

Re: meet ups

Oh yeah, can somebody do something about the strength of the pound? I'd hate to get over there and end up being a vagrant panning for quids in the town center. Hmm, I guess I could bring me harmonicas and walk the streets.

I mean play as I walk, not drum up quid by walking the streets!

Re: meet ups

Easter Saturday is 8th April so can't see it changing anything. Unless of course Easter is a different date in Rindyland :D

harwood red 05-02-2007 18:25

Re: meet ups

hey if you're that hard up brian we'll work out a meal rota for you :D Will be nice to meet you again!!! Shame cindy and the kids are not coming with you

LancYorkYankee 06-02-2007 02:12

Re: meet ups

I believe we'll have to hold off untill the May meet. Not that it just dawned on me:rolleyes: , but April 28th is our 24th wedding anniversary. Yup, even Mother England will have to take second fiddle to that!

Thanks for the thought Red. Since my Mate is getting me a free ride through his frequent miles, I should be able to handle the rest of the expenses.

No clever Dicky, my Easter is the same as your Earthling festival of eggs and rebirth.:D

I merely suggested to LYY to perhaps pm Mez to confirm the date before booking a ticket, because in the past we've also had an Easter meet, and sometimes not an end of month one, depending where it falls.

Re: meet ups

Me & Mez will be checking these places out in the next couple of days and we will let you know where the next meet up will be when i am sobber hic hic !! and anne has stopped hitting me with the rolling pin:D
we have 2 places in mind upto now but if you can think of any that is big enough to take 30+ and has real ale on let us know and we will crawl round them on your behalf (well i will mez is driving :) )

flashy 07-02-2007 11:15

Re: meet ups

didnt mez mention at the last meet that it would be at the hare and hounds at westend? both chav and i remember her saying that

Mick 07-02-2007 11:18

Re: meet ups

Mez said maybe we have to check it out first
its not just a case of naming a pub and all turning up
we have to check to see if its ok with the landlord if they have real ale if there is enough room and if there is another group booked the same night
and sometimes if there is food on ect

flashy 07-02-2007 11:23

Re: meet ups

mez said she had spoke to them and they where willing to put food on for us...unless me n chav heard wrong

cherokee 07-02-2007 11:29

Re: meet ups

brian i do wish you were on msn messenger its easier to pass messeges on & have a rare old gossip too.:D

LancYorkYankee 07-02-2007 18:51

Re: meet ups

Thanks for the info Mez. I should have enough money by May to pay Rindy back for buying that round for me at the Christmas Meet.. . . . He did buy that round didn't he??

As for msn messenger, just asked Joshua about it and he says we have AOL so we don't need msn. He says it would just slow our computer down even more. (hint hint dad we need broadband:() Not much into gossip but for Accywebers I could make an exception:p. Go ahead Mez, bring it on, whatcha got??????

Brian (this May in Accy)

entwisi 07-02-2007 19:08

Re: meet ups

un;ess your PC is a really slow decrepid old thing running another IM client won't slow it down much. in fact if you switch to using GAIM you can use your AOL and MSN accounts in teh same 'program'

You do still need Broadband though Brian! :D

PS, stick your AOL Im name in your profile so those of us that have them all, (Yes, sad techies normally!) can add you for a natter

LancYorkYankee 07-02-2007 23:38

Re: meet ups

Thanks again for the continued hand-holding Ian!! Mission accomplished!

Quick thread wander please!

Looks like I have 2 choices for broadband: HughesNet - $499 installation, $59/month and Virginia Broadband - $299 installation, $49/month. Are those monthly rates normal?

We have a farely new Dell computer (~1 year old) with most of the bells and whistles. Should be able to handle add-ons. I think it runs slow sometimes cause the kids overload it with songs and pictures!

Re: meet ups

good god brian thats expensive

entwisi 08-02-2007 08:40

Re: meet ups

monthly is about right. unlimited Broadband over here is ~£25-£30/month although we are going through a phase where some telcoms companies are giving free if you take a full package from them.

Installation sounds very expensive, over here most are free or at worst ~£40 quid.

I'm guessing its so much because as you say you live in teh back of beyond.

flashy 08-02-2007 08:41

Re: meet ups

well my unlimited broadband aint that expensive, i pay £17.99 a month

entwisi 08-02-2007 10:38

Re: meet ups

OK, let me rephrase that, unlimited BB from a quality supplier with decent call centre helpdesks are £25-30.

:D

Okay, gotta let this get back on thread. I'm gonna head over to my "broadband thread" in the tech section with a reply. That way we all don't get a whipping!

Okay, back to Flashy's refrigerator . .!

Nice try Spuggie J but no one followed me over to "broadband help and guidance!" So, where were we folks, oh yeah, had Mez off to Belgium, okay Germany. (Just trying to get that gossip going Mez)!

Here's where we stood: According to Flashy: "ok i'll fill both freezers with plenty of snacks and pizza's, the fridge is a little on the small side but hey, you could always put the beer outside to keep it cold!"

Just seen little piece in Observer re. a guide to the best real ale pubs in East Lancs., including section on Accy and lists the pubs, two of which are the Boars Head and Shoulder of Mutton .. hmmph out of date already methinks.

Can't be bothered to list 'em all, will have to buy the book or Observer .. :)
