are you bord of the same old accrington nightlife and want something different?

hi everybody i have been asked by a very good friend of mine to attempt to breath life into accringtons night life, i run nights all over the country play in clubs such as fusion burnley, sanuk blackpool and the cav blackburn very soon. You may ask why come to accrington but that is where i originated from going to opium when accrington was on top of its game. i went down last week and it was awful and everybody is scared of trying anything new. i have therefore attempted to change this by bringing my night to the town with a playboy fancy dress night. i have got my own dances for the lads and for the girls have the option of fancy dress gettin free entry with prizes on offer all night. i provide the best atmospheres and the best djs around playing rnb and the biggest dance anthems. i decorate the whole room also bringing live saxaphone and lazors if you can come and support i will be grateful and come and have a chat!

Oh dear, another one of those, could I ask have you permission to come on here and use accyweb as a free advertising site?
The site costs money to run may I suggest that if you wish to continue with this type of thing you contact the mods to find out how you can make a contribution to the site to assist with the expenses, after all, you wouldn't expect to be able to advertise free in any of the local papers now would you?:rolleyes:

Don't be so miserable Less. It's been posted in the nightlife section which I presume is for people to tell other people what sort of nightlife is going on in Accrington.

And yes, there are ways of 'advertising' free in the local papers - I frequently send a press release about information which they print. How else do you think the journalists find out all this information.

I'm not being miserable, nightlife and events is the correct place but, at the same time, this nightclub is a business, therefore if they wish to advertise, it would be nice if they help contribute to the upkeep of accyweb if they are happy to make a donation then it will help the site to keep going and therefore ensure it will be here for the next time they want to advertise an event.:cool:

Its great that somebody is trying to bring the nightlife of Accy back to what it once was. But i'm afraid that on a Thursday night you've no chance. People are unwilling to pay to get in anywhere in Accy, so on a Thursday when you can go to The Bees Knees where its £1 a drink, Bliss & Shakers where they are buy one get one free, and no charge to get in No chance!

I love Kinky would be better trying it on a Friday or Saturday, because Thursdays aren't all that bad anymore.

Agreed on thursdays lolly. But looking at the people who go out round accy these days can you see what i mean? Next to nobody cares how they look it seems to me.

The only reason I suggest that they make a contribution instead of the thread being removed is because it is local and therefore stands a chance of being of interest to some of our members.

Its the Thursday before Good Friday though and more people go out that Thursday, Martholme used to be the place to go. I agree though an event Friday or Saturday would also be good.

hi sorry about this advertising but my arguement is that everybody wants to slag of accringtons nightlife and say it is dying but people don't want to do anything about it. i am trying to do someting about it and things cost money promotional work etc - dancers djs room hire and on this event i will probely just break even not like fusion, sanuk etc were i make a fortune. i am not doing this for money just to try my best to turn accy round. i have goty mini buses and coaches of people from burnley and blackburn,i live around this area and it pains me to see this happen to a town were i went out prices are pound b4 midnight 2 pound after so its not much and load of different things will be happening not seen in accrington before i would normaly charge 10 pound entry all night in other venues which proves im not out to make money its a small step because people need to know about us in accrington

No problem with you trying to do something, but your argument runs parallel to my argument,
Accyweb costs money every month, servers software updates etc the administrators time. these bills have to be met as well, accyweb members often give generously for the upkeep of the site without expecting any financial gain from it, you are hoping at the end of the day to make a profit.
Roy is hoping at the end of the day to break even and not have to pay for accyweb out of his own wages. So as I say if the ordinary members of accyweb can contribute I think it would only be polite for you as a business to assist after all, you can probably put a claim against tax.:p

Poor argument really. You don't want to see Accy dying yet you make a living offering entertainment in other towns which either A) Takes people out of Accy or b) Stops people coming to Accy.

If I was so much of a martyr to the town I would have done it in the town I care about first :)

I dont care if it was a really really busy Thursday. Its just not going to work. Even if its cheap to get in £1 before midnight, you can get a drink for that in The Bees Knees. People dont like to pay to get in anywhere. (Look at Industry!)

People have tried things on a Thursday in the past. Lar de dars tried opening most of the pubs have tried different dj's, drinks offers etc.. but non of them work because nobady can compete with the Bees Knees. Even The Bridge is quiet till the Knees shuts.

And I'm not bigging up the Bees Knees here, I dont really like it and try not to go in myself on a Thursday, even if it is very cheap. I'm just stating the facts through experience of working in a town centre pub for 2 years.

well thanks for all positive feedback and i did aproch the industry first but they have not balls to commit to us so is up 2 the people in accrington but i usually get people one way or another as they will have a great time

good point lancsdave .i understand what less says but there are other places doing the same on the sight they freely advertise quiz nights and other advents all to bring people into there place for financial gain.

Well rindy perhaps it's a time to change? If someone is doing it for profit, (off their own backs), perhaps it's time they did consider the fact that accyweb is basically free to it's members no-one is expected to pay towards the bills it is all voluntary but if some one is in business and hoping to make a profit surely they should be the first to contribute something to the running of the site?

The other point is if you are just joining the site for the sole purpose of advertising your product the least you can do is ask permission?

I hope he does well out of what he is trying to achieve, but that doesn't mean he can't be generous in return for having used the site in the first place.

What would you like to bet his appearance would only be in relation to promoting his own ends and not actually having any real interest in the site or it's members?:o

there is a big difference between some one that regularly comes on site posts, joins in and sells items.

We now have quite a few landlords that are members of the site because we have had meets in their pubs, but we approached them so it's a bonus for them. We have the likes of Gayle who promotes her doing something for women days not for profit again no objection.

Then if you remember a few months ago the worlds most fantastic D.J. who couldn't write his adverts in English, he was going to change the Accy night scene, He was keen on using accyweb for his own gains, Where is he now?

This latest person, as I say I hope he does well and his night is a success, but has he since I pointed out that accyweb also needs money to keep going made even a cursory offer, NO.
Like so many before him he will use accyweb for his own devises and then forget about us, leaving it up to the regular members to assit in the funding of the site.

Now is that fair? Or if he wants to take advantage of accyweb as a publicity vehicle, should he search his conscience and offer something in return?

it is the same person as dj funky but time i have moved on from the industry and my reputaion has grown. also i have gone back to school to learn english haha. i went out last night promoting the night and people were intrested but its my mission to make accrington a better night. also what is the point having this website if people can't speak, do you ban people from speaking about accrington stanley as you are promoting the football club. also if you have got the hump about me informing the people of accrington about a night out then what is the point in this site once again political correctness wins and people of accrinton suffer as a consiquence

You just dont get it do you?? The Accrington Stanley fans pay for the Stanley themselves, by having season tickets and paying for tickets, programmes, drinks & food at the match. Thay pay for the upkeep of their football club by supporting them. They have a right to talk about them on here, also some of them have payed towards to upkeep of this site by donating!

Trust me you dont wanna start annoying the Stanley fans on here!!!!

It was your mission to promote a better night in Accrington through Industry wasnt it?? and what happened there? People aren't annoyed with you for promoting this. They are annoyed that 1. you have 2 user names, this is a banable offence &
2. You have only ever been on here promoting yourself to make money and not thought about the upkeep of the site, or even tried to get to know anyone or join in, in any other discussions.

well im not trying to upset anyone i have changed my login name due to my last e-mail adress becoming canceled due to lack of use and i didnt remember the password.

i am more than willing to advertise your company on the night and give everybody on accy web free entry and put you on guest list. im not on hear to make enermies only to inform the people of accrington. i understand peoples thoughts but i can advertise elswhere for free eg flyers, papers etc. why dont you got and get local advertisement on your site if you want to make money eg butches because this night is not about making profit its about rasing the profile off accy around the local area. im 19 year old and i have had to work long and hard like you have to raise my profile. people on hear have only tryed there best to knock me down when all im trying to do is help the town out - as you all know its not going to be there in few years if nothing is done about it.

the expences i have to pay i will list are this

bouncers £14pph
dancers £25 times 3
dj £75
receptionist 10% of door fee
advertising poster 50 for £25
at one pound entry can you see me making a profit coz i cant
im doing this for accrington and maybe im not always on this site but i dont have much time to play on pcs

Flyers are free? who pays for the paper and the ink, how much time spent delivering them?

However I think what you are offering could be a start (I'm sure the mods will discuss it).

Unfortunately so far as the user name thing that will be a difficult one for the mods as Tadah (another of our members), was caught using two names and had to suffer a weeks ban, so if they are to be fair.......

my wife and i was around accy 2 weeks ago.at about 10.00pm we cam home what a crap place to go drinking. this was on a sat nite no one was in town ?do they know something we dont ?we have just moved here in september2006.i dont think we will be in a hurry to try it again.

I moved from accy a few years ago, went round accy on a friday night about 3 weeks ago. Went in the calder and we ended up staying in their most of the night. I was told that it is the busiest place on friday night and even then it was half empty. dont often go round pubs anymore anyway but i remember years ago Friday night used to be fair busy and sundays were heaving!
