Hyndburn Mela and Community Festival...

....HAS MOVED

The event has moved to Hyndburn Sports Centre. It will still be held on Sunday 29th July 2007, 12.30pm - 7pm. Music will be exactly the same as planned (a wide variety of different styles of music), great food, arts and crafts activities, drumming circles, fairground, etc etc.

The drumming event in the town centre on Saturday 28th July, remains exactly the same.

Oh for a minute there I thought you were going to say the date had been moved and I was going to be able to be there. :(

This cannot be serious! Someone please, please tell me it is a wind up. There is no way that the good people of Church have done anything to deserve this nonsense being foisted upon them...I dread to think of the unholy racket that will be heard all the way up Henry Street, no doubt as far as the Queens.

Well, I was going to be back this weekend but no way now. Bang goes my quiet pint this Sunday...I can only hope, for the sake of the people of Church, that the weather is of the right sort to dampen the occaision.

I have not been for a few years but always enjoyed it when I did.

I am glad you found a new venue Gayle. It would have been a shame to see a years work wasted just because Oak Hill park is a little damp.

Awww, and we thought your complaints in previous years were because it was in Oakhill Park so we moved it just to be closer to you Tealeaf. ;)

Well we wouldn't want you to miss it like you have done for the past eight years, would we? :p

It's a feel good festival with lots of stuff for everyone:- bands, food, arts and crafts, community stalls, fairground - just good afternoon out. Why not try it for yourself instead of taking the word of someone who has never been to see it for himself.

If I wasn't miles away in a caravan that day I'd be going.

There are usually a few caravans parked up by the canal at the back of the old Commercial Hotel in Church. Why don't you get your caravan and go and join 'em over the weekend? That way you can enjoy your a night on wheels and with luck won't even have to go over to the sport's centre to hear the awful din.

There you go Tealeaf, you can avoid all the noise by sowing your own seed.;)

Re: Hyndburn Mela and Community Festival...

Well I thought the mela went well.. As other towns cancelled theres I thought Gayle did well to get it on at the leisure center... far better than no mela (yeagh yeagh ok T) .. It was missing big open spaces for people to lounge around in the sun but needs must.. No matter what you think of it.. there is a lot of hard work and planning goes into it and it must have been heart breaking for other towns to have to cancel theres and all the effort go to waste..

Well done for for making sure it went ahead I say...
