It is about time pubs realised that they need to 'go continental' and serve hot drinks. Most places have a kettle on hand for drinks such as 'whisky all in'
If they tried to charge me more than 80p for a mug of instant coffee I would take my own, with mug and ask for the hot water - to see how much they dare ask for that :(

You would think that they would welcome non drinkers in order to make the place look full and popular to passersby

Me i just drink orange and soda when i go out. Tis easier and its cheaper than a j20. Decided to drink that because went out one night and asked for a j20 and they charged me £2.50 nearly fainted from shock - i said how can you charge that much for a j20 when a pub near me sells it for £1.50? Said thats the price so i said no thanks i'll have an orange and soda please half or pint - pint please no ice thanks and they charged me £1.

and for me to get on thread i personally think (and i said this on sunday) that ALL draught soft drinks (coke, soda etc) and cordials should be cheaper eg: 50p or even free or the pub should ask for a minimum donation of 25p the proceeds of which should goto local charities at the end of each month...

Re: Accrington on a Thursday night...

I agree that they should be cheaper but at the end of the day, the landlords/ladies still have to buy them. So they can't really go around giving them away.

I had the pleasure of going to the Bridge on Friday night, just for one drink on our way home from a party.

All I can say is that it should be re-named SMELL

It was minging in there....... Yes, there are good things since the smoking ban, there was no fog in there and we could see clearly but.... The smell of farts was so horrendous that not even the freezing cold air-con could keep it at bay. We left half of our drinks in there as we couldn't get out quick enough... Honestly, it was that ripe my eyes were watering. If I venture into town on a friday night again, I'll take a gas mask...:D
