We Will Rock You

Could have sworn there was a thread on here this week re. this. Has it been taken off ?.. if not, please add this post to it as can't find it.

This is the show that opens tonight from our local amateur theatre group.
Just to wish you best of luck girls and boys ... sure is going to be a great show.

Was supposed to be there myself this week, helping in the dressing room/make-up, unfortunately, indisposed. Brother has been to the theatre this morning going through the lighting checks with Health and Safety from HBC .. all OK and is a goer.

Knock 'em dead !

xx

Busman and I wanted to get tickets for this (for Friday) but I couldn't manage to get hold of anyone on the phone today and as far as I can gather the box office is closed tomorrow. How can I get tickets Katex?

Presume you tried the two numbers for Accy Town Hall on 380293/235038.

Will obviously be open tonight from around now (6.35) .. best to try and nip to the theatre yerself tonight if poss. between now and 7.30. Shame I didn't know earlier, could have got someone to leave them at the door for you.

Starts at 7.30 and try today if possible, 'cause Friday is usually the busiest of nights. My brother sat in last night and, although, not a fan of this type of musical, said it was excellent.. everybody was clappiing and singing along and a good atmosphere.. this show has a cult following if you are a Queen fan.

Shame I won't be able to get there meself ..:( but you lot on Accyweb, shape yourselves and experience a good night out. :D

Got them. Looks like it's going to be a sell out. From what we could hear through the wall should be good too.

Great .. hope you got some good seats.

Seemingly the lad that takes the main character has an exceptional voice with a good range .. so Freddy Mercury .. RIP .. watch out. lol

OH, and the guitarist in the band/orchestra is brilliant .. Shakermarker.. take a look ...

Re: We will rock you..

My friend, who is now in her 80's went last night, has just rung me, to tell me was excellent. Now, she is a very experienced actress with lots of musicals/plays under her belt, and very critical. Wasn't sure that she would enjoy it, along with her 85 year sister-in-law, but they loved it.

Just hope the young people will involve themselves more with the group and come back and help in other ways .. seems to be falling to 'old stalwarts' all the time and no new support recruitment in the immediate future.

Not all about appearing. Properties, stage management, prompting, helping with costumes, front of house, etc. Presume they will all disappear to another group just to grab the limelight on stage .. shame really, as is useful to give all round knowledge.

Glad you enjoyed it, and glad its getting such good reviews from people! Everyone Ive spoken too has said its been fantastic! Well done to Accrington Theatre Group I say :D

Hope people show their support on their next production, after all, its the ticket sales that keep these groups going =) I always enjoy a trip to the theatre.. be a shame to see local theatre groups disappear due to people's lack of interest.

BUT on the whole.. looks like this production has proved that these small groups still have it! :)

Re: We will rock you..

I am surprised Willow said so little about the show tonight, it was one of the most enjoyable evenings we have had. A totally professional show!

I agree with Katex that the guitarist was superb - along with the drummer, but ALL the musicians were spot on.

Before the show I worried that the singing would not be up to scratch, Freddie has such a unique voice with a huge range vocally that few if any "famous" pop stars can sing his songs properly. However, the theatre group tonight proved it can be done.

Song of the night? Has to be Bohemian Rhapsody which includes the "Scaramoosh opera bit":D

Congratulations and thanks to all those that took part.
