Lancashire Food Festival
As the Events Manager for Leisure in Hyndburn I would like to draw your attention to this very successful yearly event. The Lancashire Food Festival is now in its 11th year and goes from strength to strength each year. Taking place on the 5 and 6 April at Accrington Town Hall it showcases food and drink from Lancashire and beyond. This year we have managed to secure BBC'S The Hairy Bikers for the opening of the event on the Saturday. They will be around to answer questions and will also be in the cookery theatre. It only costs £1 to enter and is open from 10am-3.30pm both days. So come along and tempt your tastebuds!

Re: Lancashire Food Festival
A £1 in and samples I think..........
|
Re: Lancashire Food Festival
I was at the BBC Good Food Show at the NEC last year and met the Hairy Bikers, plus loads of other foody celebrities. There was loads of stuff to sample and although I wouldn't expect this one to be on the same scale, I'll definitely be popping along.
If it's half as good as the West Pennine Food Festival (held annually in Darwen and the surrounding villages), then it'll be worth a visit. |
Re: Lancashire Food Festival
You are correct it is £1 entry fee and you do get loads of free samples. See you there!:)
|
Re: Lancashire Food Festival
Only fair to give this a lift back up ! I will be going Saturday morning , hoping to pick some ostrich pate up, it's great ! I really enjoy this event and one of my mates has a stall on this year, Reedy's Naturally. We should try and support this event ( and obviously hoover up all the free samples !)
See you there !:dancedog: |
Re: Lancashire Food Festival

Re: Lancashire Food Festival
went down but did not get in... que was too long and it was freezing
|
Re: Lancashire Food Festival
One thing I can't understand about this is why are people willing to pay to go into a shop/market?
It's not like its an exhibition or anything - its a market, would you pay to get into Accy market? I know the organisers have to make money but they make this out of the stall holders who in turn make it out of the customer, so why pay to go in? I'll put my £1 towards a pint of Guinness in the Regency if the Mrs wants to go in while were down town :D |
Re: Lancashire Food Festival
I don't suppose that the Hairy Bikers appeared for free, and the town hall cleaners would need overtime pay to clear up afterwards.
I wont be bothering to go either. |

Re: Lancashire Food Festival
They charge this small fee to make supportive income .. which is OK; have to get the revenue from somewhere in order to reduce the fees to the stall holders for exhibiting, otherwise, could be a no-go for most exhibitors, and total failure of this type of event. Just financial juggling.

Re: Lancashire Food Festival
Well I've just been down and it's very busy. Got to say, well done to Kerry and the entertainments team at Accrington - an excellent event.
I've just stuffed my face on the most delicious haggis and black pudding - rare treats but it just shows the difference when you buy quality products. There were so many different delights, I could have stayed for hours sampling stuff but a certain someone needed to watch the grand prix. If you're looking for something to do for the next couple of hours take a trip into town. |
Re: Lancashire Food Festival
Picked up some tasty chutneys and had a few nips of the free Sheep Dip whiskey.

( not sure if she has my fave jam in stock yet as she only uses seasonal fruit/veg but if she has any left ....Stawberry and chocolate Mint ...... mmmmmm) |
Re: Lancashire Food Festival
A couple of years ago I got some jam from the Food Festival. It was Strawberry & Black Pepper and it was fantastic I've never been able to find it again! (Stupid me didn't note down who's it was!) So will check out Reedy's! Would love to find it again.

Will do !:)

Re: Lancashire Food Festival
Well I can say for the first time I didn't enjoy the food festival at all this year. Nothing to do with the stalls and everything to do with having too many people in such a small space, especially when pushing a pram.
When did adult carers and old people get so rude? The old lady that had a go at me in the town hall on saturday after she pushed past me and the pram, only to step back into the front of the pram coz she didn't have any room to continue forward, and then somehow I ended up in front of her again and she verbally abused me again when I couldn't move anywhere coz I was boxed in, made my blood boil!!! I didn't get chance to try anything coz I couldn't get near any of it!!! May I sugest to the organisers next year a one way system!!!! |
Re: Lancashire Food Festival
It's become a victim of it's own success, needs a bigger space to be best enjoyed by all, it's mayhem with a pram or a small child. Maybe better next year in a huge marquee at Oakhill park ??
