Drive It Day 20th April 2008
Sunday sees the annual Drive It day for classic cars all over the country. As usual the roads will be awash with cranky old cars and there even crankier old drivers.
The initiative to get owners out and about in their vehicles on a specific day is in its third sucessful year details of the participating clubs is avalible here Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs Our own Phyllis (see avatar) will be heading from Huntleys at Salmesbury via the Forest of Bowland to Ribchester along with her Wolseley friends. My dad had an Austin7 in the 1940's.
It's reg was HG114 He adapted it to run off paraffin when petrol was rationed. |

They are old cars!!
Gosh, I learnt to drive in a Fiat Punto!! My dad had a mk1 Escort at some point, and seem to recall him mentioning a marina?? but other than that im not well up on the "older" cars lol |

The closest ive ever been to driving a classic car was a mk1 golf, I know they have a following now but not sure if they are classed as a classic. I don have that car now though, cars get expensive to maintain after a certain age lol so ill stick to my new one

The only cars i remember my dad having was a hillman avenger a horrible mucky green colour and then an austin princess. Mind you can remember the registration of the princess. Also he had a variety of ford transit vans that were always blue and can remember a couple of the registrations of them as well.
