Habeas Corpus .. starts tonight !!

Just to remind people of the Ossy Players play Habeas Corpus which starts tonight, runs until Saturday 26th, and to wish our Gayle best of luck. Try and get along folks, sure will be an enjoyable night.

Think Gayle must be taking the part of Muriel Wickstead, as was described in the cast list as :-

"Middle-aged well spoken snob. Must have a voluptuous figure, especially in the bosom department" .. :D:D .. or could be Constance who acquires a pair of false ones ? LOL.

I will be performing front of house, selling raffle tickets plus making the brew at the interval ... (not my best talent).

You could be correct Shillelagh, haven't been involved with this one... mmm ... Felicity Rumpers described as :-

"30's. Attractive and voluptuous. Secretly pregnant, tries to trick Dennis into marriage. Arthur tries to seduce her" Eeew hek !! :D

I thought you looked rather fetching Gayle, even though you suggested you looked like a cross between a tart and Lily Savage. Think you should consider going blonde :D

Didn't want to see much tonight, as sitting in the audience tomorrow, but certainly heard the audience laughing and obviously enjoying the performance.

Couldn't help noticing Mr. Britcliffe there tonight either (perhaps the rumours are true LOL). Well, good on him anyway for supporting a local society.

Yes, next week I start my residency at Foo Foo Lamarrs! Now that Paul O'Grady has pensioned off Lily Savage they've been looking for a replacement! I'll be performing a medley of It's Raining Men, I Will Survive and that old drag favourite I'm Every Woman! ;)

Most unfortunate Cllr Britcliffe had to leave at half time! Either the sight of me in my under garments or the lure of electioneering got to him.

No, Gayle, he didn't leave, he moved seats up onto the rise. May have found it too hot under the collar for him near the front ..:D

That was without the hair. For anyone who has read this thread and is still under any illusion that I may look like a normal person in this play - please think again. The picture in the paper did not do justice to the full effect - I didn't have the wig on!!!!!!

The wig, or should I say Beryl, as it clearly has a life of its own and should really be credited as such in the programme, is a cross between Lily Savage's barnet and the Dulux dog - I'm sure we all remember him.

The boots, again something not shown in the paper, add about 9" to my height (honestly!!!!!) - which in real terms means that one of the male cast who is the same height as me is now on direct eye level with something other than my eyes!

Oooh yes, do please, Gayle. :D

Sadly, I can't get to see this show. I'm gutted as, like all Ossy Players productions, it sounds great.

You looked fab in the paper last week so please do put up a pic of you in full costume. :)

Did you notice the audience go 'Eeew' when you appeared from behind the screen in your underskirt ! Certainly the men wriggled on their seats ...:D

The question about the boots is not 'where did she get them' but 'how on earth does she walk in them?' :)

Gayle wasn't asking how to walk on them, just how does she manage to walk on them (which is open to an answer) .. technical like :D Sorry, just a reference to another thread today that was funny :D

I'll be going tonight too, although I'm in a bit of a rush at the moment.

I do hope you don't spill any wine on me either rindi :p

Re: Habeas Corpus .. starts tonight !!

A triumph!

What a magnificant pair!

We, the audience, were mesmerised.

How she walked in them we know not how.:D

Seriously. A most enjoyable production. Witty script from Alan Bennett, and some very capable comic acting.

I've seen many professional plays over the years, and many of the cast of the Oswaldtwistle Players could give full time thespians a run for their money.

A very enjoyable evening, and I look forward to your next production.:)

Re: Habeas Corpus .. starts tonight !!

Loved every minute of it! Laughed throughout, with the reference to the telegraph being my particular like. :D

Gayle 27-04-2008 10:36

Re: Habeas Corpus .. starts tonight !!

Thank you to all who came and for Kate for keeping promoting it with this thread.

Also, thanks to Kate for her sterling work on the raffle.

I have to be honest it was a weird one for the cast - I don't think we particularly enjoyed rehearsals for it as we were worried about how our audience would respond to it. We weren't even 100% sure it was funny! The minute the first laugh arrived on Wednesday night we relaxed and started to love it.

The minute it ended the wig and the boots came off. Phew, what a relief that was.

A pound a strip from the lovely Kate, what more could anyone want?

Though sadly none of my tickets won the raffle.:D

I really enjoyed the play, and speaking to other people who saw it last night, they did too.

I'm sure most people don't realise how much time and effort must go into putting on productions like this, but they give so much enjoyment, so thank you to all concerned.:)
