Accyweb sponsored cricket match

Right, you may recall we did this last year with great success.
We can sponsor the Accrington v Rishton match on Sunday 1st June. its at Accrington's Thorneyholme Rd ground.
The price will be £15 per person, that includes your entrance fee, a buffet and a complimentary bar, same package as last season.
Just to gauge interest can you reply to this thread if you would be willing to join in.
A great time was had by all last year and with Accy top of the League at the moment it will be an entertaining game !
( think the Stanley fans are sponsoring one too !)

Re: Accyweb sponsored cicket match

Sounds good to me, Lindsay. Please book Lettie and myself down for a couple of places.

The match against Church CC, last season was highly entertaining, not forgetting the social aspect, :drink:(hic).

It should be a well fought game that Accy are well capable of winning, provided that Junior takes his customary clutch of wickets.

Lucky it went down to the last bowl, if you didnt have your pro.

On a lighter note, Enfields Pro has been called up for New Zealand.

I'm looking forward to the game. I might even manage to call in on Thorneyholme Road tomorrow for the local derby in the Worsley Cup against Enfield. :)

Re: Accyweb sponsored cricket match

Should be 2 great matches, Junior is fired up after his recent appearance for the Lancs League XI , where he hit the winning runs () so we need it to be a bit overcast and humid for his bowling spell !:D

Doesn't rain in the bar though !

Change of plan for me i'm afraid, and though you wont see this till you come back, I will still pay for the ticket as promised, I just dont think it fair to bring the youngun to this if he is just going to be sat with a bunch of teenage adults drinking and talking nonsense, hehe, will hopefully be better weather next time. Let me know how to get the money to you please linds.

Did do a couple of overs I reckon G78, but started to rain again and was finally 'axed' around 3.30 p.m. ... were you there ?

Anyway, did actually have a wonderful afternoon, white wine to meself (except for Lindsay's mum sharing a little .. lol) and brilliant buffet. More people around than I expected.

Glad I went .. thanks Lindsay. x

Well. the great British weather stymied us again! No play and match abandoned, many many thanks to the hearty souls who turned up anyway, Katex, Harwood Red, Brfc 1974, g78,Sparks and Lettie, Ossylass and Andrew. We had a fun day and a good buffet, the company was sparkling and the first Eleven very much appreciated our efforts .
We raised the not inconsiderable sum of £145 for the club, a great effort for a rainy day and of behalf of David and the team a big thankyou !:)

well to say the match was called off and the weather was miserable I have to say I had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.... couldn't even finish all the lager on offer...loving the ice cold pint cans of fosters :D

Had some great debates, conversation and laughs, in fact I have to agree with somthing Lettie said, instead of being on here on a virtual accyweb debate we had a real live one going.... hey and don't cross katex after a few drinks if she disagrees with you :p:rolleyes:

I have had a letter given to me addressed to the Accyweb members who sponsored the (sadly washed out) match last season, the Club say " we thank you for your support throughout the 2008 season and hope you will continue to support Accrington Cricket Club in the future."
Hopefully we can do something similar again next season !
