Ossy Social Club

Just heard that as from tomorrow (Sunday 7th Dec) Ossy Social club are starting doing Sunday Lunches between noon and 3pm, three course meal around £7 with quite a good choice. Its the new Steward that's putting on the food, I believe he did a good job when he was landlord of the Shoulder of Mutton Green Haworth

A very good price for a three course meal. But where is Ossy Social Club?

Tsk, Cashy, lets not be like that, maybe you don't need to be wearing a blue tie to gain entry anymore.

Maybe they'll let you do the D.J. spot?

Mind you, you'll have to stick to stuff like Iron Maiden!

:)

Formerly Oswaldtwistle Conservative Club, in Rhyddings Street.

A rose by any other name.

Somewhere I've never actually been into.:D

I went there with my mum some afternoons in the 40's to do 'old time' dancing - not lessons - just a get together for mums and children.
I recall a big ballroom - or maybe it just looked big, me being little.

The problem with the Shoulder was always the fact that you needed a car to get there, don't even think there's a bus up there now, especially on a Sunday. I seem to think that after the guy who is now at Ossy Con left, the chap that took over was a waste of space, or so a mate told me, and he'd been a regular for 40 years

Re: Ossy Social Club

my understanding of this club is that some members put in a lot of money to stop it going bust and been sold and turned into god knows what and its good to see them trying to make a go of it

sory if this sounds like an avertisement but they have put in sentana sports for football etc , put on good acts at the weekend and the new steward is a great bloke, they advertise what events they have coming up on their website which i cant remeber the address of right now and also display in the windows so if you live in the area take a look and see whats going on

they also hold events to raise money for charities like macmillans cancer reesearch and local charities like darian house for terminaly ill children ( probbably mis-spelt that )

i havnt had chance to try the new meals yet but if its anything like the food they put on for birthday parties, christenings etc then im sure it will be yummy and at £7 its got to be worth a try
