Re: Grange Bowling Club OPEN DAY
I know Ive missed todays event, but I hope it went well for you all.
Ive always enjoyed watchin the bowls on tv,my Mother was a county player for many years in Avon before she passed. Now is it 'crown' or 'flat' you guys play? Can anyone pop along anytime to learn? Cheers Pete |
Re: Grange Bowling Club OPEN DAY
Hi Pete...the afternoon went very well indeed although under cloudy skies and the constant 'threat' of rain...it managed to keep dry for us...we had a good turn out with some exceptionally good bowling in our fun competition...we play crown green bowls and visitors are always welcome...we do ask for a small donation of £1 for green fees which is quite normal at all clubs in this area apart from those on local authoirty greens where you have to hold a council registration card...the best time to come along to our green is at 12.45pm almost every day if it is not raining cats and dogs...have a look at our website...

Thankyou very much I shall indeed keep you to this! However it may be some time before I can take part due to this busted leg I have........pretty sure it might upset a few people if I tried to enter the green with my crutches!!! The £1 green fee is extremely reasonable as well, just one more question if I may, when I do come down is there a need for me to buy my own set of woods or does the club hire them out to newbies? Many thanks, and I look forward to when Im back on 2 legs and can get down to you. Pete |
Re: Grange Bowling Club OPEN DAY
Hi Pete...thank you for your interest...sorry to hear about your leg problem...hope you heal soon...we have bowls at the club which we loan free of charge to newcomers or beginners so there would be no need to buy any until you know for sure you want to take the game a little more seriously...our members will also show you how to play the game if you don't already know...we are a friendly lot down at Grange and you will be made very welcome when you are fit enough to visit us...regards Laurie (Secretary)
