Looking For a Venue

Mimi is fast approaching her 18th birthday so Willow and I have decided to arrange a party for her but we are having problems finding a decent venue.

The Oaklea looked ideal from the point of view of location and general appearance - until we mentioned that it was an 18th and we were turned down flat:rolleyes:

The Poplar club was ok - but they want £108-00 to pay for bouncers:(

Can you Accywebbers suggest anywhere suitable?

These are the requirements:

In total, there will be around 50 - 60 guests.

Many, if not most are none drinkers either through age or belief so a venue in a public bar is not suitable although a seperate room would be.

Cost is not a problem as long as it is not excessive

You could ring the Canine Club 233999, not sure whether they allow eighteenth parties but worth asking. Good luck with finding somewhere:)

Its a nice room, not to big or too small. I'm trying to think of other venues which allow 18th's, I know that some of them are fussy about 18th as they seem to have trouble following them (young drinkers who cant handle the alcohol etc) but yours will be slightly different. As soon as I get my brain into gear I will list the ones that I can think of that will allow them.

I know that Stanley street wmc does and Brooks does but Brooks is quite a large room. You might want to try church & accy cricket club or the golf club just further down, there is also the golf club at green haworth. They are nice venues and if i remember right the cricket club isnt too expensive to hire. Will keep think though :)

Clayton Con Club have an upstairs room. There is a small bar in the room too.

What's all this about clubs refusing 18ths? I've not heard of this before.

Mind you, it's a few years since I had my 18th.

What about Enfield cricket club? That's always popular with folk having a do.

Brooks club?? I know sometimes you have to book in advance, they are very busy. But I have been to a few parties there and they were great ;) ... its not too expensive either...and plenty of room for youngest to be in one end and us oldies at the t'other ;) Thats what I always found anyway lol.
