Re: welcoming nastya & baby nina////

If it's a nice weekend, can we have somewhere with a beer garden. I know it sounds a bit health professional ish, but I have a thing about babies and smoky pubs (Cot Death Guidelines):)

Re: welcoming nastya & baby nina////

have to agree there lettie, so people get yer thinking caps on , i think it may start as an afternoon do lettie just for nina sake (hope the weather is good ) then it doesnt upset her bed time routine, then we can all see her happy little face ///;)

Tealeaf 05-08-2004 13:53

Re: welcoming nastya & baby nina////

I'd prefer an afternoon do...especially if the weather's good. Any ideas about venue?

What an absolutely fantastic excuse! :D

Could we also have somewhere that sells real live beer as well, please.:)

Re: welcoming nastya & baby nina////

I've just been virtually prodded to name a pub with a beer garden.

My suggestion is the Whittakers Arms on Burnley Road, opposite the main gates to Accrington cemetary. It has a large grassed beer garden to the rear.
I'm not sure whether it serves real live beer. I may have to do a little investigative journalism here, and report back. ;) :D

Re: welcoming nastya & baby nina////

Unfortunately I don't think our good friend Baabara will be able to make it. I saw her today, she is on holiday in Scarborough. She was being carried around by a young man and looked very inflated and happy.:) If you don't believe me ask Sparky. We will be going to Whittakers tomorrow night to sample the beer.

There is the Plough up Fielding lane and then the Shoulder of Mutton at the top.The Red Lion up Willows lane has one and then there is the Spinning Jenny.Me i prefer teh Red Lion and the Shoulder of Mutton as its out in the country and you can let the Kids run about.

WillowTheWhisp 09-08-2004 09:53

Re: welcoming nastya & baby nina////

Red Lion? Have you been up there recently?

Re: welcoming nastya & baby nina////

Here's the low down on the Whittakers Arms, courtesy of Lettie and myself. :)

It would most definitely be suitable for an Accyweb meet-up. The pub is very spacious inside, with plenty of comfortable seating areas. To the rear of the pub, there are some picnic style table and seat combinations, on the edge of an enclosed carpark. Behind this, overlooked by the Coppice, there is a grassed area.
Behind the bar was the usual range of lagers, cider and fizz beer. Most noticeably they were serving three real live beers. Moorhouses Premier, brewed in Burnley; Timothy Taylor's Landlord and a very dry summer ale by the Phoenix Brewery called Arizona. This place certainly gets a thumbs up from me, for the quality and selection of real beer.

Time seems to fly by these days and I don't seem to get on here as often as I used to:( but I do think of you all!!!!!! sounds like you lots have got round to organise some friendly 'pings' ( term used over here for ****-ups where people that don't really know each other very well but have things in comman) Well done Roy for starting all this!!!!!!!

One day i'll make it back and we can have a 'welcome little-mo' ping!!!!! hope you all have lots of fun!

Re: welcoming nastya & baby nina////

We most certainly will Littlemo. Whittakers also do food, and have a Sunday carvery. For about £8 ish you can have an all you can eat carvery including sweet and ??starter. It would probably be cheaper than our curry bill. I think we should try it sometime.:D

Yep I'll be there lettie, as for Roy etc don't forget Mez that when Roy gets back from Ireland He's going straight to Russia again, so, we don't know if he'll be back in time (hard work keeping up with these jet setters isn't it?).
