Wedding Free Zone
It's nearly upon us, having checked a couple of pubs out, one, (Railway), say's it won't be televising the wedding if there is any decent football on and the other, (last orders), says that not just they, but all the pubs in Accrington have got to show the wedding. I find the latter statement to be hard to believe but have no proof one way or the other.
So, for those of us that really don't want to watch the procedures on that day, does anyone out there know of pubs that definitely won't be broadcasting the event? :thepint::cheers: |
Re: Wedding Free Zone
Well It ain't a pub but my gaff will defo be a WFZ if ya want a party

I'll be at a motorcycle rally in East Yorks, so a field in the middle of nowhere should do it for me!!!!!! :D

Re: Wedding Free Zone
I'll find something to do in the garden or on the car - too early to start drinking anyway.

Re: Wedding Free Zone
However hard we try to avoid the Wedding, it is ineviatble that we will get a glimpse at some point as the newspapers and the media is bound to be full of the event for days after.
The only way you could possibly miss it is to be marooned on some desert island for a few weeks. |
Re: Wedding Free Zone
Well I will be....almost, taking some Oil Executives to one of the 'stan's next week, will just miss the wedding..Nice
|
Re: Wedding Free Zone
Can you accommodate a stowaway???
I am not anti Royal or a republican, but the media just do the whole thing to death. |
Re: Wedding Free Zone
Funny that, my better half asked. All I will say, the last time I was out that way, there was nothing, absolutely nothing around...for miles.

Re: Wedding Free Zone
I'm sick of it already......the paper is full of who is invited and who isn't and why......the seating plan in the Abbey, the flower borders in front of the palace........OMG, we still have four more days of this mind numbing stuff........it is as the Americans so aptly observed, like the moon landing but with bridesmaids.......that quote isn't correct by the way...it is my own version of the proceedings.
Boeing Guy, that deserted place is sounding more attractive by the second.......I promise to be quiet and not take up much space. :) |
Re: Wedding Free Zone
Even Aljazeera and Russia Today news channels are wasting air time on this junk.
It drowns out and distracts the population from the real news (which isn't pleasant but what you really ought to know) |

it'll be interesting to see how many of the "Royal" wives from the Mid-east will be wearing burquas in the Abbey

Re: Wedding Free Zone
No problem here in the Great White North. In out time zone the wedding comes on at 3:00 am. Being in bed cutting the zees is what most of us will be doing.;)

Re: Wedding Free Zone
TV coverage starts 1 am (9 am UK time) here so think I'll be giving it a miss.
US TV coverage is going overboard, and coming up with some real tripe ,( coffee spluttered over the keyboard moments ) an item on this mornings 'news' from London featured a rather 'nice/sensitive' bow-tie wearing young man who was introduced as being a Jellymonger ..... and demonstrated how he gets the right amount of wobble in his jellies . :D :D |

Less.......I am sure I noted that there was a real ale festival on somewhere fairly local.......I read it and thought of you:)
Have a look at the LT's site......it will be under Wedding Free Zone. The day could still turn out fair for you yet...if you play your cards right. |

Thanks Bernard.........I want a wedding free zone, that is also free of men kicking around some poor pigs bladder...OK a football then.
Surely it isn't too much to ask? Failing that, I will salt myself away with either wardrobe sorting or trying to improve my scores in the Arcade :) |
Re: Wedding Free Zone
for some reason I get the feeling there would be more local interest in the event if the bride was called either Sandra or Tracy ;) :D :D

Re: Wedding Free Zone
A bit of good news, the Last Orders WILL be a wedding free zone, they have announced it on facebook.
By the way, for those of you that think 11 o'clock is too early to go for a drink, may I point out that no doubt, ignoring the tat we have now on so called news programmes, it will be starting about 6.00 a.m. with previews, then there will be the event, THEN they will have what they call, the best bits, so unless you find a seat early in a wedding free zone, you won't find enough to do to your car/garden to fill the hours of tedium we are all going to be blessed with.:D P.S. good luck to the couple may your day go better than what the media will force on the rest of us. :) |

Re: Wedding Free Zone
Less, you haven't mentioned the reruns for those that were unfortunate(?????) to be working through the event....and the days after....no news in any of the papers, just an album of pictures that will shove any real news into the background.
Yes, I wish the couple every happiness and a long and healthy life together. I just don't want to be watching it all. |

Kate, if you have read my recent blog you will see that you won't be the only one organising your day around the festivities(No, not me).........I hope you enjoy it all.......and what does it matter if you have a drop too much(I thought that was what weddings were all about) you can always take yourself off to bed and have it slept off good and proper for Saturday morning.....when they will be showing it all over again:)

If you have read my earlier post on this subject you will know that our 42nd wedding anniversary is on the 29th April, same day as said wedding and we had booked a Rhine Cruise to celebrate. Since writing the post my wife has suffered a massive heart failure and has been confined to hospital for a few weeks, now she is home and has a nurse and carer visiting each day and I haven't the courage to go alone or even ask another fair maiden to take her place. I will not be watching the do on TV or even going to the Mayor and Britcliffe's party at the Town Hall for anybody who's anniversary is the same day as the wedding. |

Gremlin, sorry to hear that you will not be able to go on the cruise...but glad that your wife is home with you. I hope she improves and that you can enjoy the day together.
And a very Happy Anniversary to you both. |

Re: Wedding Free Zone
Anyway worms aren't maggots........don't you have to put maggots in your mouth to warm 'em up........NO don't. Please, that has really tickled my gag reflex!
|
Re: Wedding Free Zone
Sorry to hear about that Gremlin, not nice, but she's home & you're together & although it's not going to be the wonderful time you'd planned but at least things should be bucking up for you both in the near future, so best wishes & happy Anniversary (as best it can be in the situation). :)

I am 73 and was looking forward to the holiday, we have been three times before and this one was from Bonn to Basle. I can always look at our holiday videos and have a few glasses of decent wine just imagining we are there again. I have a confession to make as well, we have only been married 34 years, the other 8 were trying to make up our minds which wedding ring she wanted, still it is 42 years with the clothes in the same wardrobe. |
Re: Wedding Free Zone
Ah Gremlin, that is lovely.......If we both make it to October we will celebrate 45 years married...longer than lots of folk have been alive......and I still feel only 35 :D
Glad you have got some good help to keep you and your lady comfortable. |

Re: Wedding Free Zone
Thanks heth, it's certainly been a tough old start to the year but we are coping OK.
I always thought the saying "The NHS will look after you from cradle to grave" was true but now I find my wife needs a carer I have to add the words "as long as you pay" to the end of the statement. Both of us paid tax and stamp for a total 80 years but that doesn't count, or so it seems. Once again, thanks to all who wished us well and a speedy recovery for my wife, I have received a few pm's I have replied to. ps, one was rather nasty but didn't get a reply. |
