Wedding Free Zone

It's nearly upon us, having checked a couple of pubs out, one, (Railway), say's it won't be televising the wedding if there is any decent football on and the other, (last orders), says that not just they, but all the pubs in Accrington have got to show the wedding. I find the latter statement to be hard to believe but have no proof one way or the other.

So, for those of us that really don't want to watch the procedures on that day, does anyone out there know of pubs that definitely won't be broadcasting the event?

The wedding is at 11 o'clock in the morning. I've just checked the Sky Sports schedules, and there doesnt look to be any football on at that time on a Friday morning.

However hard we try to avoid the Wedding, it is ineviatble that we will get a glimpse at some point as the newspapers and the media is bound to be full of the event for days after.
The only way you could possibly miss it is to be marooned on some desert island for a few weeks.

You can always go and work for Her Maj., in the gift shop up at Balmoral.

She's making her staff work the extra Bank Holiday.

So work for her, and miss the wedding, because you'll be polishing tins of shortbread.

I'm sick of it already......the paper is full of who is invited and who isn't and why......the seating plan in the Abbey, the flower borders in front of the palace........OMG, we still have four more days of this mind numbing stuff........it is as the Americans so aptly observed, like the moon landing but with bridesmaids.......that quote isn't correct by the way...it is my own version of the proceedings.
Boeing Guy, that deserted place is sounding more attractive by the second.......I promise to be quiet and not take up much space. :)

Even Aljazeera and Russia Today news channels are wasting air time on this junk.

It drowns out and distracts the population from the real news (which isn't pleasant but what you really ought to know)

TV coverage starts 1 am (9 am UK time) here so think I'll be giving it a miss.
US TV coverage is going overboard, and coming up with some real tripe ,( coffee spluttered over the keyboard moments ) an item on this mornings 'news' from London featured a rather 'nice/sensitive' bow-tie wearing young man who was introduced as being a Jellymonger ..... and demonstrated how he gets the right amount of wobble in his jellies . :D :D

There's local football being played on a Friday Margaret. Clitheroe are at home, and I know a few that's going down there. I would think they'll get a reasonable attendance.

A bit of good news, the Last Orders WILL be a wedding free zone, they have announced it on facebook.

By the way, for those of you that think 11 o'clock is too early to go for a drink, may I point out that no doubt, ignoring the tat we have now on so called news programmes, it will be starting about 6.00 a.m. with previews, then there will be the event, THEN they will have what they call, the best bits, so unless you find a seat early in a wedding free zone, you won't find enough to do to your car/garden to fill the hours of tedium we are all going to be blessed with.:D

P.S. good luck to the couple may your day go better than what the media will force on the rest of us.

Less, you haven't mentioned the reruns for those that were unfortunate(?????) to be working through the event....and the days after....no news in any of the papers, just an album of pictures that will shove any real news into the background.

Yes, I wish the couple every happiness and a long and healthy life together.

6 a.m. Rise from my bed.
6.05 a.m. two fags and two coffees.
6.20 a.m. Check website chat and crank up my PCTV.
6.25. a.m. Watch lead up events with bowl of cereal in hand ... mmm BBC probably.
7.00 a.m. Shower .. make up, hair .. chose outfit. What have I got in Red, White and Blue ? No, thought better of a hat. :)
8.15 a.m. Turn telly on in lounge.
Footstool out .. more coffee and more fags.
9.00 a.m. > 12 p.m. Watch this wonderful display of the best of British. :p
12 p.m. >>> until rest of transmissions. Just a matter of when I get out the snacks and wine really. Could be in a drunken stupour by 3.p.m .. don't usually drink during day . so apologies in advance for any strange posts.

Hopefully ! :D Kate, It's the fine piscatorial art of Angling (usually only little un's, hence Tiddlers. After all I'm sure you're aware all the big un's get away :)) After the gruelling Competition of sitting on our arses in the Sun & drinking Beer for 5 hours "Tiddler bashin'" we then retire to the Gentlemens Lounge (the park benches at our lake) there to regale, exaggerate & be somewhat economical with the truth about the ones that got away & with the re-tellings our scaley quarry increasing in enormity & outrageousness as the evening wears on & the Ale flows.

A far better way in my opinion Dave, but in my case I wouldn't even bother with the angling.
If you have read my earlier post on this subject you will know that our 42nd wedding anniversary is on the 29th April, same day as said wedding and we had booked a Rhine Cruise to celebrate. Since writing the post my wife has suffered a massive heart failure and has been confined to hospital for a few weeks, now she is home and has a nurse and carer visiting each day and I haven't the courage to go alone or even ask another fair maiden to take her place.
I will not be watching the do on TV or even going to the Mayor and Britcliffe's party at the Town Hall for anybody who's anniversary is the same day as the wedding.

Strange that, quite a few of the Laydies like a well presented Worm :D Remember, it's not how deep you fish but how you wiggle your Worm ! Does it every time & I'm pretty sure ol' Willsy Boy has been showing young Kateleen (or whatever they're calling her now) the wonders of his Worm up in the crags & glens of yon Bonny Scotland, aye out with the Gillies & Andies yer Uncle ! Thank you Margaret, it is kind of you. We have had a rough time and I am getting a bit knackered but I have employed a good cleaner and her carer is OK.
I am 73 and was looking forward to the holiday, we have been three times before and this one was from Bonn to Basle.
I can always look at our holiday videos and have a few glasses of decent wine just imagining we are there again.

I have a confession to make as well, we have only been married 34 years, the other 8 were trying to make up our minds which wedding ring she wanted, still it is 42 years with the clothes in the same wardrobe.

All part of the armoury, you always need a plan "B" :) As to the maggot thing, don't think they're over keen either ! :D

Gremlin I hope that you wife feels better soon, and as these lot keep telling me make sure you look after yourself aswell!

Happy Anniversary!

Thanks heth, it's certainly been a tough old start to the year but we are coping OK.
I always thought the saying "The NHS will look after you from cradle to grave" was true but now I find my wife needs a carer I have to add the words "as long as you pay" to the end of the statement. Both of us paid tax and stamp for a total 80 years but that doesn't count, or so it seems.

Once again, thanks to all who wished us well and a speedy recovery for my wife, I have received a few pm's I have replied to.
ps, one was rather nasty but didn't get a reply.

Why on earth would anybody want to send a nasty PM, especially when you've been have tough times with your wife being ill, just what would anybody gain by doing that, the mind does boggle. Glad to hear your wife's on the mend Gremlin

I suspect you mean the celebratary beer?
That link took me to the front page, I'm pretty sure you didn't mean the BNP chappy.
However you could have meant Hollands pies?

As it is I'll stick to John Smiths thanks, unless of course, you are getting them in.
