Lancashire Day 2012

This year, Lancashire Day is on Tuesday 27th November. One of the Friends of Real Lancashire, Brian White, is compiling a list of events being held in the county He can probably help on telling about entertainers suitable for a Lancashire event. -

On this day in 1295 the first elected representatives from Lancashire were called to Westminster by King Edward I to attend what later became known as "The Model Parliament".

Lancashire was forfeit to the crown in 1322 when Thomas Earl of Lancaster was beheaded for treason against his uncle Edward II, they have been crown lands ever since.

On this day, there's a Lancashire-inspired event on at Ossie theatre in the afternoon, puit on by the Ossie Heritage Association. One of the speakers is from the Lancashire Family Histsory Association. At the same time in their shop/office/library in The Straits, which is just across Union Rd, the Society are opening up to meet members of the public who want help with their family research. It costs nowt. Their experts are wanting to help you.Take advantage.

The official flag of Lancashire is a red rose on a yellow background. One on
a white ground was already registered with The Flag Institute by a Scottish town.
