Re: Hyndburn Local History Society 2012/13
Am hoping that a visit to the season's first meeting on Thursday evening will pay dividends, so will check it out.

Re: Hyndburn Local History Society 2012/13
Glad that you caught onto my train of thought Les. I was far too subtle for Katex.

Richard's family owned the Observer. I think this will be one of the highlights of the society's year.

Re: Hyndburn Local History Society 2012/13
Jan 10th - talk about Tiffany Glass
Can I just mention to folk this will be a FAB talk. Doug Jackson must know more about Tiffany Glass and the Briggs family of Accrington than anyone else I know. He was a friend of Norman Potter, one time curator of Haworth Art Gallery and became interested in the history of the glass through his friendship with Mr Potter. Well worth a trip to the library, even if its a horrible night! |
Re: Hyndburn Local History Society 2012/13

I agree with Atarah. I've heard him speak before. It's in my diary - 'seeing Katex and Atarah tonight. Wear after-shave.Change socks.'

As to what you say, thats what worries me. Folk will see others have been regularly contributing, but, when they look at the posts, all they will read is rubbish! |

You don't think this is the first or last time a thread has been subjected to a humorous wander do you ? When it happens, instead of getting miffed someone brings it back round again to its origins. Life's to short to be taken to seriously, unwind a little & life's less harsh. :) It's Kates thread after all & she doesn't appear to be overly upset. ;) |

But as you so rightly point out in your big bold font I have wandered off thread, I'm starting a new one called "Wandering off thread" come on over. |

Your a positive asset to the site, especially with your light bending qualities. By the way the PM you sent about the number of likes, if you took any notice you would realise that facility has only been available since Roy's last update. Also I use this so called big bold font because its easier to read, not to make any statement, like some of your posts in your new thread do, you seem to have a large fan club, how many is that now, 1 or 2. |
Re: Hyndburn Local History Society 2012/13
Reminder - this Thursday 7.30pm in the library - a talk on Joseph Briggs and his Tiffany Glass connection.
