Christmas

I have been asked by a couple of members recently if we are having a Christmas meet.
so was just wondering if anyone else is interested
if so a date and venue would also help :D

Re: Christmas

not that fussy but somewhere central with decent beer...

for places not on my list, the Railway... sorry, just toooo many TVs for me. ( ditto any other "Sports bars", I want to talk to people not be surrounded by noise and distracting TVs

Re: Christmas

There isn't much noise comes from the tv's Ian, i've always found it to be a good meeting place, although they do have karaoke on at weekend, that might be a problem

Sydney Street was good for the meet last year, although the smoking area is a little cramped

anywhere is good for me, makes no odds because i'll have to travel wherever you have it :D

entwisi 11-10-2012 08:47

Re: Christmas

its not the noise flashy, its the constantly changing pictures in my peripheral vision I find really distracting.

personally I'm a quiet dimly lit pub sort of guy.... :D

Yes, age does that to all of us.:)

I hear what you say about those TV's that's why when I'm there I'm in the smoking area only 5 to put up with out there, though more distracting than peripheral vision is the reflection on my lenses from sets I have my back to.
:o

The Oaklea has plenty of room & pretty central without being in town centre?

cashman 11-10-2012 14:11

Re: Christmas

The oaklea is a good shop, but "Don't" sell Non Alcoholic Beer,:(

Don't think that is a bad thing, Flashy. Problem with places like the Railway, was too good a smoking area and was easy to stay out there and split the party, whereas, at Sydney Street ... just smoked your cigarette and back in the club.

Only been in Railway once with a friend, wednesday evening. We thought we had inadvertantly walked into Dixons or Curries. One very swift pint each and that was it.:eek::eek::eek:

Re: Christmas

I'd like to come to a Christmas do, not bothered where it is as long as it's pretty central, I'll leave the details to others because I can't think of anywhere better than what's been mentioned.

cashman 12-10-2012 22:08

Re: Christmas

Have you never noticed everyone's computer crashes at 11.25?
He switches them on five minutes before he opens the doors.
It probably alters all the electrical radiation around Hyndburn.
But I don't mind I'm usually stood outside.

Re: Christmas

Whenever, wherever but not the Railway, the multiple TV screens are just too distracting and annoying. Oakleigh is OK but the upstairs room is a bit claustrophobic, would the Peel Park be an option?

Would love to come but the plane fare would kill me lol

Yeah ... they should hold it this side of the pond ... somewhere really central ... mmm ... that would be Winnipeg. Come to think of it, Winnipeg in December. Maybe somewhere in Accy would be better.:D Or at least a helluva lot warmer.;)

US Angel 24-10-2012 02:32

Re: Christmas

I know it's warmer ... but I would have to sandpaper my neck before I could fit in;):D And Cashy! None of the locals could understand a word he says:eek: And American beer:mad:

US Angel 24-10-2012 15:30

Re: Christmas

Well I have to agree about the American beer lol

Only one person here has ever noticed my accent is "Scottish" apart from my friends

Mick 31-10-2012 06:32

Re: Christmas

So only 14 members want a Christmas meet which means only about 10 will turn up
not sure its worth sorting out.
we had over 50 at Christmas meets before now so not much support for your local site is it.
i will check venue out Sydney st club comes to mind but not getting food on or arranging anything else
will get dates that are ok for them incase they have other partys on
will let you know the date by next weekend

Mick 18-11-2012 08:26

Re: Christmas

Well as there has not been much response or support for this local site
i have decided not to bother sorting a meet out.
if your passing the railway on sat then please drop in and see us
but sorry no Christmas meet.:bingobang
unless someone else wants to do it

I did mean to put that I would love to come but I can't commit, as depending on when it is , I may have already booked to work it :/ I agree though, it's a shame when things 'die down' that have once been tradition!Hope you guys manage to sort something!

Re: Christmas

When you where getting around 60 people going to a christmas meet was when people could smoke in a pub and it was cheap to drink in a pub, it's now cheaper to drink at home and have a fag in the same place, we've had recessions since the meets started and people watch their money more, don't sulk and blame people for not wanting a meet Mick, people are watching every penny they have, not everyone has a disposable income and can afford to spend time in a pub, just because you can doesn't mean everyone can

cashman 19-11-2012 14:05

How do yeh know hes sulking shaz? Seems to me hes just stating fact,

Oi, you two don't discuss it now or there'll be nothing to say at the next meeting.
