Curry & Quiz at Norden High School 30 Jan
Friends of Norden, the PTA at Norden High School, is running a curry and quiz event at 6pm a week on Friday.
Teams from 2-5 members, cost is £1 per member + £1 per team and includes a chicken curry with naan (vegetarian option available with 24 hours advance notice) BYOB - soft drinks will be available for some ridiculous price like 50p a can. Please remember that it's a school and children will be present, so if you do bring alcohol, it needs to be consumed in moderation. The event is to raise money for a school defibrillator - one of those pieces of equipment every organisation should have but you hope it never needs to be used. Collection buckets will be available for donations to this cause. Contact me by PM if you want an entry form, or apply at the school office on weekdays between 9am and 3pm. |

Not sure yet - she might be working. I'm always the last to know - usually 30sec before I'm called on for chauffeur duty.
We toyed with the idea of trying to get one installed outside school, for the whole community to use. There are charities that help fund public defibs. However, there's already one bolted to the library, and there seems to be an industry developing in "recycled" defibs: Callous thieves steal lifesaving public defibrillators to 'sell them on eBay' - Mirror Online |

we are currently fundraising for a new stroke chair on the ward, it comes to something when the government wont fund something as life saving as a defib in every school, how much do they cost per machine?

A defib is about £700. We dont need the weatherproof box, but one of those doubles the price. |
Re: Curry & Quiz at Norden High School 30 Jan
Cancelled due to lack of interest :(

That's a real shame. I feel sorry for the people who have been organising it and I can't understand the lack of interest and support, especially as any profits were to go to buying something so important. Personally I love quiz nights but 12,000 miles is a bit far to travel to attend one.

It would give me an excuse to finish the video round, too. I don't get to do one of those at the pub, so that's my biggest disappointment at the school one not going ahead. |
